Default How reliable is it?

I'm a noob to the forum and to owning a XF. My question is, How reliable is a XF?
We all read the horror stories and the problems, but how many of you have never put a wrench to the car? Of course, excluding the regular maintenance...

Well. mine just hit 36700 and before I went out of warranty at 36k I had to have both seat bottom heaters replaced, a new steering column (knock in steering), new radio (played only static), leaky ring in tranny caused to leak nearly all fluid. and fog light repalced for missing cap.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on purchasing your XFire ! You will find this forum very informative and almost as addicting as your car !
The XFire is a product of German engineering in colaboration with Dailmer Chrysler. It is a fine automobile and generally care free of unexpected maintenance. But as with all things mechanical...." $hit Happens " That's where this forum becomes a virtual encyclopedia containing a wealth of automotive knowledge. Be sure to make good use of the Search Engine at the top of the page as many common topics have been discussed to great extent !
Enjoy the ride !

Thanks for the welcome. I know a large part of a vehicle is how you drive it. I am one of "those" drivers that you all yell at... Slow acceleration, cruise at just over the speed limit, long decelerations before a stop. I bought the XF because it looks soooo good. I did research it for reliability and the numbers are really high. I had to ask myself, "Are these numbers for real?". So, this is what prompted me to ask the question.

Yes, I know what all you are thinking... It is very hard to keep it at the speed limit when it wants to cruise at 75MPH.

33k over four summers in the roadster and no problems other than the radiator fan recall. Just change the oil/filter before storing it for the winter. Oh - thought of something...one of my seat covers has come a little loose in the back and a window rail loosened and was tightened under warranty. Mechanically, she runs like a dream.

We have an 80 MPH speed limit in Texas. You need to come down here and open the car up! Then you won't have that problem

Here in the Hoosier state, the speed limit is 55MPH on the roads I typically use and Texas is a long way south west.

Hey?!? If I put Texas plates on the XF, do you think they would let me go 80?

What horror stories? I see this often enough to begin wondering just where all this false info. keeps coming from?
Of course, there will always be a lemon or so in every model car you would purchase.
So far, in nearly 120K combined miles between both cars I haven't ever put a wrench to either other than just to futz with them. They are mechanically the best cars I have ever owned & I don't drive the SRT gently either!

Squeaky wheels... I've owned 4 Neons, a Dakota, Durango, 300M, Caravan and Town & Country. If you Google any of those cars, you will find plenty of horror stories, but if they were as bad as people make them out to be, I certainly would have stopped buying Chrysler products a long time ago.

One thing I will say about the Crossfire is that it is not a DIY-friendly vehicle. I'm used to finding cheap 3rd party replacement parts, repair manuals, and tons of online resources for maintenance and repairs. These are not as easy to come by for the XF, unfortunately.

I've had my Crossfire for 2 1/2 years - no problems.

28K on the 07, 3K on the 08.....drive the poop out of the 07.....only warranty item so far = free alignment. Had the 07 up to 131 once, 100 every day almost.....26.1 mpg! Love them both.
