Default Best Radar/Laser Detector?

I was wondering what is the best Radar/Laser Detector? I bought the Cobra - 14-Band Digital Radar/Laser Detector and was using it and on the way home I got a ticket! so which is the best?

There is no 'best' radar detector. It depends on you, how much money you want to spend, and how good you are at using it.

The 'best' IMO would be https://www.escortradar.com/store/passport-9500ci.html. Also, not cheap.

If you're looking for one to stick on the windshield, look at the Valentine 1, Escort 9500ix, Beltronics GX 65. Top end ones. Don't get a Cobra. Also depends on how you mount it on your windshield.

If a police officer is using LASER, or VASCAR, or doesn't have his Radar gun on, YOU CAN STILL AND WILL GET A TICKET.

Radar detectors only work if the police officer has his radar gun on..

yeah, me too. that is funny BUT i did the same thing. i got a ticket doing 75 in a 70 and i was picked out of a crowed - no doubt because of my car. i started doing my research and if money were no object, i liked the escort 9500 for the gps feature but i liked the bel sti for the stealth ability. but because i was on a budget, i choose the bel 65. i've been very happy with this unit. i mounted it just below the rearview mirror so i can maybe get a reading from behind.

as info, if anyone thinks a radar detector will protect them from all tickets, you are living in a dream. i figured if it saves me from 1 ticket, it paid for itself. the police are very good at working around radar detectors if they want to but 99% of them don't bother because they can get someone without being sneaky.

Just looked at the Excort 9500ci

HOLY CRAP. That's impressively expensive. $1599.99. I just don't know if I can justify spending that for a radar/laser detector/jammer...

I just choose to date one of the local cops

...coincidentally I have my accident in my N/A to thank for that.

I've used a Bel 965 for a couple years and it works real well. When a trooper is coming the other way with radar active, I start picking it up anywhere up to a mile or more away. The problem is instant on radar and laser -- they turn it on and hit you at the same time your detector alerts. Too late.

I got nabbed Saturday doing 71 in a 55. Came off the interstate and forgot to turn down my cruise....then hit a speed trap a mile up the road. Due to honesty and the fact the trooper received an accident call, he let me go with a warning. I did not have my radar detector with me because all day, 160 miles of wine touring and tasting, I did not speed. :-)
