Default Pros and Cons of Having Multiple Cars

Hi everyone,

I just got my hands on a 05 crossfire SRT6, absolutely love the car. I also have an FJ Cruiser sitting in the garage. Now, I’m facing a dilemma. Should I keeps both of them or sell the FJ . Just want to get some feed backs from here, since most of the members here had own two or more cars at one point.

Thanks

Being in Toronto you may want to keep the FJ for winter (even though it is one ugly SOB). I run mine all year, but we don't see quite as much snow as you guys.

Ditto, except I think the FJ is kinda nice. Keep them both.

I feel your dilemma,Bro! Working the night shift I depend on my '07 FJ Cruiser (great truck) to get me thru the New York City winters.(Sucks waiting on a subway platform at 1am) My mint condition '05 coupe is my daily transport for the summer.Hopefully it'll never experience snow LOL. So I say keep'em both. I hear Toronto can get more snow than NYC most of the time.

We have 4 cars. We use the beaters more than the good ones. I would keep it and use it on crappy days.

You may, depending on your insurance agent, be able to save some $$ on a low-mileage policy on one of them.

It's up to YOU to figure out which one NOT to drive!

I've got a old Explorer that I keep mainly for pulling stuff, and on really bad days in the winter. It's not worth much, so I'm not in that much of a dilemma about it. The Cross is my generally daily driver, even in the winter, except on really snow days because I'm really wary of getting hit by somebody else. I ride the motorcycle for my commute most of the time in the summer, but still manage to put on about 7500 miles a year at least on the Cross just commuting. besides, if one car is in the shop for some reason, and it's crappy I have another. just my 2 cents

Keep both if you can. X-Fires are a blast to drive, but low on utility value like hauling people, stuff or getting through the winter (unless you equip it with winter tires).

I've got a Jeep and a roadster and am happy with that combo.

It seems like everyone think keeping both is a better idea. For the record the FJ is a great trunk, reliable and all the extra space is very useful from time to time. however i live in a condo, that means storage for both is going to be a problem. As for insurance,i am paying about 400 a month for the SRT; if i keep both than i will consider having only one of them insured at a time. Srt for summer and Fj for winter.
it's just, i have absolutely no need for the SRT, but it's just have so much style and soul i need to have it. (plus the perfect price rite now)

Keep them all if you can.
I have a SRT6 Roadster, the fair weather cruiser,
A 2005 4Runner, the winter ride and workhorse,
A 2001 Accord, the dailly driver.
Plus I'm thinking about adding another vert to the stable. Some people collect trinkets, some people collect cars.

Keep them both. We have a few vehicles. It is fun pick a different car everyday sometimes. I have a 5 mile drive to work and my wife works at home.

In all seriousness, I would keep them. With your winters, the FJ is a good vehicle to have.
I use the Crossfire predominantly in the Spring/Summer and the Volvo during the colder months. Neither is exactly a beater, but they each serve a purpose. Insurance for both is not a check I enjoy writing, but as said before, some people collect trinkets and other people collect cars...

Talking Re: Pros and Cons of Having Multiple Cars

Two is neat:

One starts and the other does not......go to work on time.

Need service, tires etc. you have wheels.

You get rear ended like I did today again, you got a ride, and you can sell the bent bumper; again.

Your friend is stuck, your a hero.

You feel really stupid cause you just backed #1 into #2 that was not put away..............Ahhhh wait thats not a good one!

Hey! your 21 with an x-fire! Life is good; so i would get a beater and run it all winter just to have the X-fie in the off season. In hindsite (my forte') i would garage the X until everyone knows!

I have 18 cars. Problems are, you can't drive all of them,
the ones you don't get around to driving get baked (Arizona), paint goes to hell, gas tanks rust inside, critters make your engine compartments home and eat things while they are in there, you forget what problems the cars had last time you drove them, no place to park, have to decide which 2 cars get the garage, neighbors are probably taking about you to each other about you and ALL of those cars, gas, insurance, registration.......

Woody, how bad????

Wink Re: Pros and Cons of Having Multiple Cars

My third gin and tonic (8oz each) says that I dont care how many sparkplugs I own, but it is well over 100:: Work trucks, vans, cars, riding mowers 3, chain saws, Blowers 2, street cars, 1 crossfire, and spare part vehicles........You got me beat and that is not really a good thing cause I know about the critters, tanks, and batteries though I now have a Battery ( ha ) of battery float chargers.

DId I remember to count the glow plugs and brushless motors???????? that is another bunch.

$400 / month? I've got $1K deductible on Fred & Wilma....= premiums are about $350 / 6 months......but then....I'm not 21 either!!!

I can't imagine getting lumber in my Crossfire like I do in my truck. I can't imagine hauing grandkids like I do in the Caravan.
I can't imagine going to work daily in either boring vehicle.
I don't have to imagine a fast, sporty shift down the ramp in a really fast, cool convertible. I get to do that in my roadster.

Keep the other vehicle for the things you need to do.
For the things you have to do, don't give up the XFire. Ever!
