Default Felt ambitious yesterday and painted my wheels graphite, pics inside.

Got Dupli-Color wheel paint. I bought 2 cans of graphite, 1 can of clear, 1 can of red caliper paint... and 4 sheets of 400 grit sand paper.

(Sorry for the pic quality... I have to go to work right now and only had time to take pics with my iPhone. They really don't do the wheels much justice -- they look much better in person)

About 3 hours later:

The owner before me got some pretty nice curb rash on all the wheels, but between the light sanding and the paint being somewhat textured and thick -- it covered quite a bit of imperfections.

Now I'd like to add some of Andrew's logos for the center caps, and give it a small drop.

I don't like the pure black on black look too much...It's too much black for my taste. The graphite color being lighter than the black seems like a decent alternative to the darker look, without all black.

And as stated above, the wheels were in quite poor shape and this covered the gashes and scratches quite nicely.

The far away pics that I posted look like crap.. but the close-up one shows how nice and even the coating actually is.

Its your vehicle so I'm glad you like it! As for me, dark wheels scream "no time to clean them."

Yeah, I see what you're saying. When I wash it this week, I'll post up some decent quality pics. Like I say, it does look nicer in person. The graphite paint has a shiny metal flake appearance... and they're quite glossy. I'm satisfied with the outcome. Especially since it hardly costed anything at all.

I wanted a new look, but can't really afford new rims right now. So hopefully this will hold me over for a few months.

Looks like your wheels are covered in brake dust..

I want to love them I really do, they just look dirty to me.

Yeah, that's exactly my reaction; not crazy about the color. However, it does look like you did a very good job painting them!

I agree! Car looks like it could use some good TLC in general.

They potentally look good, it may just be the picture quality. Maybe run it through the wash and get it into better light and retake the photo's.
Did you put a clearcoat on them as well?

I'd go back to the store and buy two more cans of OEM silver.

I would have been more concerned about touching up/painting the bottom rocker panel.
Yo did a lot of work and it really doesn't do much visually for your car.
Although you did a pretty good job on the wheels, I have to agree with others in that it does look like brake dust.

Gotta lot of brake dust there buddy...

Well, at least it will hide the brake dust well. I also suggest getting a can a clear coat.

really though..if you like it and put all that work into it then who gives a s**t what I think or others. Gotta do things that make you happy.
If you prepped/sanded it well you should be alright in terms of paint flaking off. I have used the same paint on a BMW M3 wheel with great results, although I did apply clear over the silver. Enjoy your ride.
