OK a couple of questions, I understand the principle of cold air but doesn't the stock AI come from the same location, pulling from tubes breathing from behind the grill? I also wondered about driving in the rain, I really don't have much worry of that in AZ but still wondered wouldn't the filter get wet and not let or greatly reduce air flow? Wouldn't it be better to wrap the pipe in heat wrap to insulate? Would I see any gain using the stock air cleaner housing pulling the filters and using tubes pulling thru filters from behing the grill? Kinda like the look of the stock housing. I know it's about smooth air flow. Lots of questions I know......................

you pretty much answered your own questions...needswings uses K&N's water resistant, some do rap them, your choice, and I would never try modifying the old housing...if you aren't after performance, then replace stock air cleaners with K&N's and enjoy...
