Default Taking the plunge

I'm going to purchase a limited coupe next Spring. The prices for replacement parts are extremely expensive, but then I looked at prices for replacement parts for my 2005 Subaru Outback [tranny, alternator, etc. ] and they were in the same neighborhood. I would love to hear from anyone that has a higher mileage vehicle..50,000 plus...any unexpected breakdowns, parts replacements.I really hope the vehicle will give me at least 150k miles of hassle free driving. I'm going with the auto tranny, I figure I won't have to replace a clutch down the road, and from what I hear the 5 speed manual isn't all that smooth . I know oil changes and tires are expensive..and problems with headlights fogging up...and rust under the weather stripping. I was considering a 350 z but the insurance is outrageous, and the crossfire has a more comfortable ride...any thoughts appreciated.

I'll defer to the real high mileage owners, but I have 33k on mine with no problems. Also, it's a 6-speed and while 1st-to-2nd is sticky, it shifts fine in the higher gears. I firmly believe a clutch and throw-out bearing will be cheaper than rebuilding an automatic in the far future. But -- good choice.

Thanks for the correction..I meant to say 6 speed. I like your insight into future maintenance costs.

I have an 07 6 spd & an 08 automatic.....love em both...the 6 spd is smooth if you keep the revs up, pretty sure it'll outrun the automatic & despite what the EPA says ...it gets better MPG than the automatic.

Why even ask this question now if you're not going to buy for nine months. By that time there's a good chance you'll have changed your mind and found something better.

I purchased my baby 3 days ago (wow, has it been that long already!?). I bought her with 77k on the clock. No codes showed up, and it drives really smooth. Someone told me that mercedes engines can make it to 250k-300k if you drive good.. I'm hoping for the best!
