Default Flahing light coming from within steering column

I've just picked up a 2004 Crossfire in the UK. I'm really enjoying the car and am finding it far more enjoyable to drive than the Mitsubishi FTO I owned before.

However, I have one thing that I can't work out about it! There is a mystery flashing red light coming from within(!) the steering column. I can see it when the wheel is turned to the right on the right hand side of the steering column. I can find no mention in the manual and to be honest I can think of no reason why any form of warning light would be put in such a difficult to notice position!

The only thing I can think of is that it is something to do with the Traffic Master/RAC tracker that the previous owner had installed.

I don't suppose anyone out there can shed any light (pardon the pun!) on this??

Yes it could be from the previous equipment that was installed, or it could be a LED warning light for an alarm system, You could try cutting the voltage supply wire that goes to it and see what happens???

flashing I'm not sure about... it sounds like the steering wheel column. look directly under the steering wheel for the little lever and make sure it is pushed in.. If pulled out it will throw a red light on the dash.. this is for moving the steerwing wheel closer or farther away from you
