Glad to hear you're ok Kim and that it was not your beautiful roadster that got plowed !

Kim, I'm not surprised (about putting fear into your neighbors' hearts)! I hope you didn't get injured in your accident.

So sorry to hear about your car, keep your chin up. Hopefully they will catch who did it and he will be punished severely.

Sounds like the unlocked thing isnt going to cause a problem.

As far as just not saying anything... well the police asked me if it was locked.... when I found the car the door was wide open and if it had been locked opening the door without the key would have set off the alarm... so there's not much point arguing that one.

The arson investigators are having me do a polygraph test so they can clear me up as a possible suspect right away... sounds good to me.... its horrible having people consider me as a suspect under these circumstances. im sure you can imagine. We actually have a suspect at this point, but so far its all word of mouth so it's hard to say if they will be able to charge the *******.

I asked the insurance company about what they will do with the wreck (there are TONS of good parts) but they said it's company policy that they have to auction the remains off to a licensed salvager... odd.

I'll let you know how the insurance company stacks up, but I'd be willing to bet they wont value the car at as high a price as could have sold it for.. plus I have to pay my deductible etc.... I've been the victim of some losses in the past and the legal system and insurance never really worked out in our favor... first we had 10,000 in brand new dirtbikes stolen from our garage.... homeowners insurance said they were motor vehicles so they werent covered (who buys a motor vehicle insurance policy on a dirtbike?) that was 16 years ago or so. A few years later a drunk hit our boat (while we were on it) with his boat. He had no insurance (its not required on boats). He was required to pay the state thousands of dollars in fines, but the judge said there was no way to make him pay the damages except to sue.... and it turned out (complicated) that suing would probably cost more than sucking up the damages.... so we got screwed again.

On the other hand, I do have to say Progressive took good care of me when an idiot kid rear ended my antique corvette in texas years ago. I'll let you know how State Farm stacks up... I switched because I became good friends with a state farm insurance agent... and the price was lower too.... soon I'll know if it was a good decision or a bad one.

You are way too accomodating to these wretched people. You get your car destroyed by some lunatic and you get slapped first? Make them take a polygraph to see if they truly intend to pay you if you didn't do it. The nerve... Best of luck to you. I hope the police got a good one handling this one.
