Default M12-1.50

What the heck am I talking about....that's the lug bolt size/thread. I have been to Lowes, Home Depot, Autozone, Auto Parts looking for a plain bolt (not a lug bolt) in this size. I want to cut off the head and use it to hang the wheel when I'm changing tires. Any idea where to buy a couple?

Snap On sells them Max but they are expensive. My son gave me a set for Christmas. Cheaper to do it your way if you can find them.

Am I correct that the lugnuts are to get 85 ft lps of torque?

Also, I have this old torgue wrench ...you set it on zero & have to watch how far it goes as you twist.....do they make one that you set to the max you want to apply & then it ratchets (slips) when you hit the pre set number?

Yes.

Sears sells them 3/8" and 1/2" drive. Many sell them, just easy to find a Sears.

Mcmaster Carr has everything: McMaster-Carr

The link is for 50 mm which should work for you.

By the time you add shipping they are almost the same price.

Great suggestions. Thanks. I'll hit Fastenal next week. I liked that 5" hanger for $10 and who could resist having it shipped overnight for $62. Maybe I'll buy that 5-pack for $6.67 and then offer the other four bolts to the forum for $5/each with free shipping!!

Pleased to report that on a whim I stopped at our local hardware store (Van Wieren) and they had a nice selection of bolts in various lengths. Picked up an 80mm (about 2.5") for all of $3.89. On the way out I mentioned that I had to hack the head off and they offered to do it for me in the back room -- and I gladly accepted the offer. I'll be trying it out next weekend when I remove the wheels for their pre-winter cleaning/waxing.

Do you think you could get them to do a whole box (or two)? You could probably cover your expenses ++ if you want to do your forum friends a favor. Just a thought.

Talking Re: M12-1.50

here is an old posting that I put up which includes the wheel stud issue........

Id suggest that you use TWO on each wheel so that they hold and align the wheel, makes it much easier, youll see. Enjoy Woody
