light out indicator

Default light out indicator

ok so first of all, all lights on car are working, but my "light out" indicator is coming on. heres the odd part, it only comes on if i put the car in 6th gear, take it out of 6th and back to 5th and the light goes off.

any thoughts???

Shoulda' had a V8.

Or an Automatic.

JK. This is a wierd one. Bad filament in one bulb is re-attaching itself? Has happened before.

My initial thought is a short caused by the shift linkage position, but I'm not sure how that would happen. A floppy filament could happen at any speed or bumps.

Not necessarily a good one, but a thought ... since it involves the tranny, could the back-up lights circuitry be in mix somehow?

Good luck.

BTW: I rigged my fog lights to work as DRL's, and of course the bulb-out indicator appears permanently. That's expected, so I just put a teeny piece of black electrical tape over it. Out of sight out of mind. You might need to do the same thing.
