Default Newbie and Crossfire Ancestor

Thanks for the site. New owner of a 2008 6 speed coupe. Wanted one from day one, and price finally reached my wallet. I collect cars (Sunbeam Tiger, Jensen Healey, and '70 350 SEL w/22,000 original miles), and view the Crossfire as a descendent of my favorite car ever. Pictures of that ancestor are attached. Any guesses?

Thanx. And to drive you really nuts on the car posted, its not Italian, not British, and dates to the mid-fifties.

%$#*(&^%## !!!! This kind of thing frustrates me to no end! I have no clue, it matches nothing I've looked up, other than beeing a spitting image of a Maserati 3500 GT. What is it !?

No. Not Italian. Here's a rear-end shot of the car's sister. I believe some of the design ques in the Crossfire are evident here as well. If no one guesses, I'll post the answer tomorrow evening.

Wow, no flies on this group. 1954 Pegaso Z102. I believe this particular car is a Superleggera Coupe by Touring, so not really completely forthright when I said "not Italian." But no one, especially Pegaso, ever called their cars other than Spanish. As to the portholes, almost all Pegasos had some vents on the side, and these included portholes, simple openings, slats, strakes, and whatever else the coachbuilder felt like that day. My guess is that they would be original.
Thanks for playing.

Welcome to the forum, and I always thought the Xfire had a lot of influences from the XKE coupe, my all-time favorite!

There was a gentleman at the Los Angeles Concours d'elegance last year with a gorgeous silver Pegaso - one of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen. Flawless restoration and the engine bay was just stunning to look at.

Damn nice collection of rides you've got there, and welcome to the forum!!

This sales brochure cover came from Wikipedia.
I photo shopped the car so it would show up better on a t shirt.
It was quite a good looking car. Pegasoz102.JPG
