Default Synthetic oil and the Crossfire

My Crossfire has a sticker in the engine compartment that reads - Mobil 1 SAE 9W-40 recommended. I know new Mercedes are shipped with Mobil 1 as standard, and I think probably the Crossfire as well. Anyone know for sure? When I was shopping for a new Mercedes, the dealer said free oil changes using synthetic oils were included with the deal. The Chrysler dealer I bought from dittoed this but didn't mention synthetics and I forgot to ask. Thanks - Bob

Yes.... It has Modil 1 from the factory. I've been using it for a couple of years in my Explorer and I love it. When I got my Explorer I was getting about 18mpg everyday driving. (a mix of city and interstate). I went to a K&N air filter and changed to Mobil 1 and I've been getting just over 22mpg ever since.

Dumb question going unanswered... why does DC specify Mobil 1 Synthetic 0-40W oil only? What's wrong with using a regular grade of oil?

TIA for any inputs.

Mobil synthetic is superior to regular oil it runs cooler, it lubricates better,it doesn't break down as fast. The maint schedules are based on using synthetic oil only. Some cars were able to do away with there oil coolers when they went to synthetic mobil one. Most new performance cars come from the factory and specify mobil one corvettes, vipers, srt neons, crossfire.I know mercedes had a problem with there dealers putting in regular oil at service. The customer would follow the maint. schedule for synthetic and ruin there engine.

How many quarts of oil does the Crossfire typically take? Just doing some shopping from the office and was curious. It's probably in the owners manual but didn't drive the xfire today.
