Default redlining the engine

A couple of times, I've redlined the engine while passing vehicles at slow speeds. Once in first, once in 2nd. The car seems to throttle down on it's own if it hits around 6200 RPM. Is it supposed to do this? I'm glad it does it but it was a little disconcerting to learn about real time.

I had that happen once also! It's normal the engine has a fuel cut off at redline. It keeps you from sending a rod through the block.
