car locks itself
My 04 coupe seems to be locking itself. heres how it goes down...I unlock it with the fob, open a door, shut door, and come back minutes later to discover its locked up on its own. Second time I unlocked it, started her up and shut it down, closed door and came back to find its locked AGAIN
I understand it will relock in 40 sec if no doors are opened and I recall in the past that when I pressed the fob to unlock it would stay unlocked
Any suggestions? Only thing Ive done recently was add led map lights

yes, there was a recent thread on this that I started, as my 06 was doing that too. It has something to do with the car sensing you've walked away from it and securing itself, but it hasn't done it since. Just a couple of times. This car is alot like a Nintendo game, all sorts of hidden buttons and sequences to get to the bonus points. Look up slef-locking on the threads and you'll find the recent posts, form about Sept or so.
It is always possible that the remote is acting up. Maybe the battery is going dead or the button is stuck. I had this happen once when the remote was in my pocket. The button was sticky or something... the slightest touch on the remote locked the doors.
Try unlocking the doors and putting the remote somewhere far away where the car won't pick up the signals. That is the easiest way to find out if you have a problem with the remote.

Im starting to think that because I keep my keys on a hook inside my pantry door, that the pantry door (which is in the kitchen adjacent to the garage) jostles the hanging fobs enough to make them smack the door and sends a signal.. Ive currently have the fobs sitting in the garage next to the car to see what happens. When I get home I'll have a look see

This particular year and color CF has been known to come with a ghost who is a particular prankster. Annoying. There is a fix. Scare the s**t out of him with a whoopee cushion.
This should fix the problem. One more thing though, the whoopee cushion should be one of the new self inflating ones that omits several loud, long and wet f**ts. Just don't forget to clean your seat afterwards. Good luck.
