MT trouble hitting 3rd.
I know speed shifting isn't good but I love to jump on it once in a while. If I'm stopped, I can shift through the gears easily but if it's floored, it will do 1-2 fine then it won't go into 3rd unless I shift slowly. This is a drag. Any fixes or is this the nature of the trans/shifter
Thanks.
Thanks.
well. when you go up the RPMs, the engine moves (the whole engine) which causes slight imbalance with the transmission and plus the parts are moving a lot faster than they do while idling so it is hard to hit the gears. Most people have trouble hitting the third gear because it is farther and you force the shifter forward which is harder than pulling it to second gear (more force with pulling compare to pushing). I personally have no problem even powershifting (without letting the gas pedal go ). timing is the most important case here plus don't be hesitant, just use some muscle and be cold blooded/aggressive if you want to shift.
one of other reason for people missing gears is, they let the clutch go before fully engaging the gear which causes them to get that hitting the wall feeling and miss the gear. Been there and done that. I have always recommended people to adjust their clutch so it will only engage up top (when you release the clutch 100%) this way, when you shift at 6k RPM, even while letting the clutch up (which happens in less than a second) your clutch still haven't engaged yet which will give you enough time to complete that shift.
Hard to explain but i hope you got the idea.
P.S. I am not sure if crossfires' clutch can be adjusted. If there is a way to get the clutch engage up top instead of in the middle or at the bottom, you will not miss gears as long as you are aggressive while shifting.
i have had my car only a week and can already go through gears without a problem. However she is too sexy to beat on so i have only tried it once
i hope this helps...
