keeping the spoiler down?
I actually love when i see it go up and then go down. not every car has a cool feature like that. People look at it and go "holy chit, did you see that? that car's spoiler went up automatically. wow! what kind of car is that?" "I don't know"

Instead of simply pulling the fuse, it's incredibly easy to wire up an on/off switch in place of the fuse. It's in the fuse box mounted on the firewall, located on the drivers side.
Legal disclaimer.....do so at your own risk. Some cars (Audi) have been known to lift at "Autobahn" speeds without a spoiler.
I bought a yakima saris 2 bike rack today, it fits perfectly and does not interfere with the spoiler up or down. although the yakima catalog says no applications for the xfire, it works perfectly with the addition of yakima's "glass hatchback" special top straps. The actually slide thru the hatchback and have these sort of rubber dumbells about 6 inches long on the inside end so they put the stress on the metal interior of the hatchback and the underside inside of the roof. The other straps side and bottom just go on the lower part of the hatchback. Middle foot sits on the glass (stability and tension only, not weight bearing), bottom feet (weight bearing) on top of the bumper.
Also, it its fairly cool looking and hi tech so it does not look junky. for 160 it shouldnt.

i kept my spoiler in the down position for 4 years - the only duty for the particular fuse is the spoiler activation.
i've driven 90 mph w/out the fuse...seems fine. would i drive over 100 mph w/out the spoiler?...no...you do need the down force...hence the spoiler retrofit on the original audi tt.

As I recall from an earlier post (maybe 2 years ago, or so) it was noted the rear wing on the Crossfire Limited chasis produces apporximately 80 lbs. of downdraft at 80 mph. This is not a linear scale so there was no other data posted in reference to other speeds. I believe this info ultimately came from a Chrysler engineer.

The shape of my '75 olds starfire was essentialy the same as the Crossfire coupe. The rear hatch weighed about 100 lbs and was a real problem to lift without the gas piston assists.
I can tell you that at 60 MPH it would lift if the latch wasn't closed properly.
At 200,000 miles on the clock, the latch was relatively inoperative and the gas cylinders were useless. Tuck tape was tacky so I used a bungie chord.
So, I am used to a big flap going up and down in my rearview.
I don't know about the coupe but the vert gets dicey without the spoiler at about 90 MPH. It's not that the car is uncontrollable, you just lose the hard edge.
The lift is noticeble.
