Default Biggest Bust of the decade?

I was surprised to see where the Crossfire was one of 12 cars in the "Biggest Auto Busts of the Decade" on AOL auto. Just so you know - I guess I have to sell now, as it is in the same list as the Aztec.

I am shocked that we are on that list, but also the Maybach should not be.

The Crossfire is a very misunderstood and underestimated vehicle. The cult following seems to be doing pretty well though.

yes, I also heard that the Crossfire was at the top of the list of the "best car deals that ever existed on this planet". Go figure.

There were a lot of cars throughout history that were considered busts.... but now they are the most sought after vehicles.

I don't consider being on this list an indication of the quality of the car. There were quite a few nicely designed cars on the list, including the VW Phaeton. As mentioned before the reason why the car was on the list is because it sold so poorly. Sales have as much to do with perception as it does raw price. I never in a million years would have purchased my 08 at its sticker price of $37k. For that money I could get a reasonable, but used Porsche 996, among other used vehicles. And for new cars, the 370z is dynamically superior. But for 25k or less, brand new, the crossfire is a great value, but for over $30k it gets stomped by the competition. It will be very interesting to see how this car is viewed as time goes by.

My white NA coupe was $11,900 with 24K miles. I average 24 MPG. It is a smooth driver with plenty of Zip! It is an eye catching vehicle.

I probably could have bought a new Kia Rio for about the same money, but I'd rather drive my 2004 Crossfire. Biggest Bang for the Buck (not Bust) for me. Now If I had only spent $6000 more for an SRT6...Those will be collector jewels!

Again..Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...I have owned many hotrods through out my time and still have a few (1938 chevy streetrod, 1953 chevy pu lowrider, 1978 corvette)...When I first saw a Crosssfire a few years ago, I loved the styling and the over all stance...I finally purchased a 2004 coupe this year and love it..The A pillars already canted back...the roof down low...swoopy fastback styling in the rear...18,s in the front and 19,s in the rear...And due to its limited production run, I believe this will be a collectable and sought after car in the near future...As I live in NY and the current temp is around 10 degrees in the morn.salt on the roads etc...I am forced to keep mine in the garage until spring time..But the upside is this will help keep the mileage down and the car rust free..And this is an investment that I can truly enjoy and appreciate..

This thread is nothing like what I had pictured in my head.....

I dont mind that the Crossfire is considered a bust, flop or anything else... except when we need parts( ). I REALLY love this car and enjoy the heck out of it. I didnt get mine at the greatest price(s), but I am happy with it and that is all that matters...

For many years I drove Lexus products. My favorites were the SC 400's. I had several. With two kids in college, I looked for something sporty and considerably cheaper. Not a Lexus, but not the price. It's a fun little car that suits my fix for speed. Really, who cares what others think. Who are "experts" anyways?

Doesn't matter were the XF falls on any list. I bought mine for me only, and have been in love with it since first time I drove it. My only concern is that of parts for it.

I would say it was absolutely a bust for Chrysler. That's good for those in the know. Where else can I get an AMG improved by SRT? Bust doesn't mean it's a bad car, the price point for the SRT's was too high for a "Chrysler" branded car...

Like most other posts in this section, I agree my 2005 limited coupe is about the only car I have owned in my years of driving,(and I have had too many cars in the past to list), this car, without a doubt, is the most fun to drive.
My only problem, is at my age,71, it is a little hard for me to get in and out of, but-----once I am in and strapped in the seat, I put it in 1st let out the clutch, and its, "get outa my way"

Crossfire-"Ask a man,(woman), who own's one!"

Not too long ago I was watching a show where Carroll Shelby was talking about having to dump the last few Cobras at fire sale prices. Not all great rides are appreciated when new. Not all great rides sell well initially. It all depends on the criteria used when judging which cars are successful. I still smile when I get into the Scooter. That makes it fairly successful to me.
