Unhappy I need some *Help* if you could!

Hello everyone! I had to come on here to FINALLY address a problem I've been having for damn near a year with my 04 coupe. About that time ago I got my car - NO PROBLEMS, used at 50,000 miles for a steal. Well, a few months later the check engine light would come on and off - (it wasnt the gas cap) - and I had autozone check it and they came up with carious codes - and went to the Stealership to get it fixed. (they replaced the fuel filter - yada yada....but under a much fancier name lol). But the problem I had and was worried about is THIS:

Sometimes (at RANDOM) when slowing down at a light or toll - my car will start to VISIBLY shake and knock. Its kinda embarrassing to be in such a nice car and have it LITERALLY shaking at a light. The RPMS go up just under 1 at the light and u can hear the engine like "adjusting" (or humming loudly) and it will fall back down after I put it in neutral. This problem wasnt fixed and I figured that I can live with this IF it isnt a sign of a much larger problem. THEN it will now delay when the gas is pushed after it does this everytime. I noticed this when turning right and thinking I had time to pull out no problem... But it took lliterally 1 second with the gas PRESSED to slam into gear or just go foward and by the time it does that it revs up and i just BARELY escaped being pummeled. Its almost like at the lights when this randomly happens the car wants to stall out but never quite does????

Im so tired of it - and im sure its wreaking havoc somewhere (even if only on my gas mileage) The check engine light STILL comes on and then goes off after I drive it USUALLY within the same day. I had Chrysler check and asked they have no idea - went to my old mechanic and they had it testing for like 7 hours and he said he couldnt tell me - the only thing that looked funny was the (forgive me i forgot the name) Fuse box in the engine bay wasnt communicating right but that dint make too much sense to him since "that part should never fail".

The codes pulled by autozone indicated bank system running too lean (chrysler said it was the filter piece and replaced it) and the last code was like p0141. (I THINK , its been done so many times lol).

It almost feels like to me theres a vacuum leak somewhere - but then again im not mechanically inclined. THANK YOU if you read this long long post - i just am at a loss!

-Mike

Has the MAF been checked/cleaned? if all else fails try replacing the o2 sensors.

I was going to say vacuum leak.
I know I've seen a few posts around here with suggestions on how to locate them.
  • A piece of hose held to your ear the other end moving about the engine compartment searching for the leak
  • Spraying carb cleaner around intake area to see if idle increases to locate leak.
Those are just two methods.

Sorry I do not have a great answer or solution for you, but if you are putting in cheap gas - stop. It may have been the previous owner, but with these cars, I truly believe they say premium only for a reason.

I've had a similar problem with a Honda and an Audi. Two simple things to check are: engine cover, is it seated properly against the throttle body? Also check to make sure your spark plugs are tight.Sometimes they get loose and throw codes similar to a vacuum leak. Good luck.

I agree with Apkano above!
Checked, cleaned and/or replaced!
