OK, I went to the Zaino site to do some shopping. After about 15 minutes I still didn't know what I neeeded to buy. Can anyone help me out and give me a shortcut on what to buy?

 

Here's what you need:

Z7 - Car wash.
Z2 Polish
ZFX (add just a few drops to accel drying time to about 30 minutes)
Z6 Gloss enhancer

Make sure to read the intrcutions you receive. It's WELL worth the $$!

Mother's is a lot less of a pain in the butt and the shine is fantastic with no steaks or swirls.... Just wash, Clay bar (if the car was really dirty) and wax and your ready to roll and blind people with the shine.

But do what you must.... :lol:

 

Zaino is NOT a pain in the butt at all. You wash, apply, take off and spray the gloss enhancer. It really is easy, don't know why people think it's a pain?

 

Wal-Mart sells Zaino for $12 and change, but it's a "cleaner polish" and I'm not sure a new car requires a cleaner that has cutters, so I hesitate to buy it. Usually look for pure carnuba instead.

 

Uh, WalMart does not sell Zaino...they sell that cheap ZYMOL, not Zaino.

 

Maybe I got it confused, not unusual for me! Wasn't sure.......

I've used Zymol out here in the hot Arizona sun for six years now. It's held up pretty good. Although not nearly as expensive as Zaino and Crystal Guard, it is on the high $$$ side for off the shelf waxes at about $15.00 to $17.00 a bottle, depending on where you buy it. Most other waxes can be had for under $10.00.

Curently I'm using "Mothers" and their quick detailer after reading wMichaels testimonals. I'm trying it for a year to see how it compares with Zymol. In the long run, I think it comes down to just how you take care of the car... todays waxes and polishes are all pretty good. They are alot easier to put on and take off than waxes of just 10 years or so ago.

My wife's daily driver... '94 Honda Civic SI, with original paint (to be honest, it's never been in the snow belt). For the last 6 years all I've used on it was Zymol, not bad for a 10 year old car. Of course I'm the one who has to take care of it. :roll: :roll: :roll:

My daily driver is a Jeep TJ... not much spit and polish goes into it. Maybe once ayear a coat of wax goes on and a quick wash after a few trips in the desert and that's it. (It's a "Jeep" thing). :wink: :wink: :wink:

BTW: Next time you see this syle of a Honda Civic... take a close look. It's height, width and length dimensions are almost the same as the Xfire. The Xfire is an inch or two wider and about an inch lower. When I first pulled it in the garage with #2815, I was amazed that the size of both vehicles were almost the same. The long hood of the Xfire is what makes it look larger than it actually is.

 

Glad the Zymol works on the 10 year old Civic...

 

Zaino is quite expensive, and many who use it swear by it... some just swear at it... to each his own!

It all depends on how much ya wanna put into it... and like most things in life, ya get out of it what ya put into it...


Personally the polish/cleaner that I am totally sold on is not sold in the car section at all, but at RV stores and in the RV section of some wallyworlds...

it's called
"Protectall".

It's a carnuba base, and 2 of its best features for me are that it leaves no 'white' residue behind, and it is good for ALL surfaces, leather, vinyl, plastic, chrome, etc. Here's a pic of my 'other' car with a nice Protectall shine....

I used them all and so far nothing gives a better shine than Zaino! You use Zaino in small amounts and can get 8 waxes out of a bottle.Don't knock the stuff until you try it.
