Default BAS ESP Light, Brake Switch?

Ok, having lived with the BAS ESP light for a while now, I'm tired of looking at it. Plus, no cruise contol. The car has been working fine, so I'm thinking 2 things after reading some of the posts.

Bad sensor in a wheel, OR a bad brake pedal switch.

I'm tending to think the brake pedal switch as the light comes on just barely touching the brake pedal. When I first start the car, the light is off.

I'll test this theory by pressing the switch by hand without using the brake pedal. If it comes on, I will suspect this is the culprit.

Any other thoughts? I really don't want to take it to the stealership if I don't have to. The nimrods couldn't even get me the right floor mat fasteners.

Try a reset, turn lock to lock left and right. go forward a bit if this is it , it will go out. I know that a yaw sensor will give this also. Woody

I had the exact same problem. The 15 amp fuse in the fusebox on the let side of the dash was not making a complete circuit; the fuse itself was fine.

The final fix was to bypass the circuit with a 15 amp inline fuse.

Worked great. And, cruise works again too.

Well the good news for my problem is that it turned out to be the pesky brake light switch. Easily diagnosed when I had someone look at the brake lights when the pedal was pushed. I had my local shop do it and in and out in less than an hour for $105 for parts and labor.

No more BAS light! Yahooo!

Cruise is now working again.

Interesting, just never put the Brake Lights/Switch and Cruise in the same thought pattern. But now in hindsight it kinda makes some sense to me.

Under working conditions, when you hit the Brakes, that should disengage any Cruise settings.

Then again, I'm stuck in my old ways, and rarely, if ever, use Cruise on any of my cars...
