Default Brakes

Hi Everyone!

Just go home from the dealer. Car was having a funny noise. They said I need the Idler pully replaced. Thank goodness I have the extended warranty.

Then they come up with a list!

Front brakes are bad...need new pads, rotor's and brake fluid.
Engine Filter
New wiper blades

We just changed the wiper blades before winter and because they are not factory ones for the car, I told them to leave my new ones on the car. Also 2 years ago they changed out one headlight assembly, and at the time both were cloudy, but I only got one new one at the time. Asked today for them to do the other one. Has anyone had any luck getting them changed out, without paying for it? I hate seeing one clear and one cloudy....

They want $1000.00 to fix the front brakes, are they crazy? So with that being said, could someone give me a list of items to buy, my hubby is going to do the brakes for me, and I want him to purchase what you all have been buying, and are happy with.

Of course, I will be leave the dealerhsip with the new Idler pully, oil change and that's it!

Thanks!

There are many options out there, but here are a couple of suggestions if you are looking for good quality and not for racing. I am assuming your car is not an SRT.

Rotors:
Brake Performance - Replacement Brake Rotors

Brakes:
Brakes Products for Chrysler Crossfire Coupe Limited 2005

So, you can do all 4 brakes with rotors for less than $300. Have your husband check the rotors to ensure that they need replacing. No need to buy them if they are still in good condition.

If you just need rotors, you can buy aftermarket and decent, low-dust pads for a lot less than a grand. My indie shop put rotors and pads on my SRT6, which is more expensive than a stock XF:
* Centrex rotors - $377 (the Parts Bin)
* Disc Italia Kevlar Pads - $200 (Brakeworld)
* Labor (2 hours) - $175
Best approach is to find the right part number for the rotors and pads, then google and compare prices.

Two air filters (even K&N) are about $80 total -- it takes a pair. I purchased Valeo wiper blades from Tire Rack (one 20", one 21") for $10/each. At the time it was a 2-for-1 sale.

For the brakes = you can buy a set of front and rear Rotex Gold pads here - the guy is a good supplier used by a number of us - make him an offer of $100 for them and you might be pleasantly surprised
Can't help you with the rest but I am sure others will
