Brake light relay

Default Brake light relay

Can anyone tell me the location of the brake light relay? I'm looking under the hood and can't find it.

It's in the fuse box under the hood.

Drivers side, in the fuse box, you'll need to take off not only the first cover but the inner cover. There are fuses hidden under that as well. I just replaced mine.

Thank you both. It turned out not to be the relay v but the 50 amp BAS fuse next to the radiator fan fuse that blew and killed my brake lights.

hi,
Im trying to replace my brake relay.. When you say there is a second inner layer could you be a little more specific. Im lost and trying to do this myself.And how did you take it out. any information on how you did this would be much appreciated...

Lift the fuse box up that's under the hood.

When the top cover of the fuse box is removed, you can see 2 rows of fuses, surrounded by another plastic cover. The second cover has detents at the front and both sides, press in on them and pull up on the cover from the front.
Once this cover is removed, you will see two black relays at the firewall.
The brake relay is the one toward the center of the car, the other relay is the locking relay.

Good description, I sent you the number to my shop in case you needed more info. If this doesn't fix your brake lights check the major fuses on the left hand side of the engine compartment, it's 3 fuses in the main power distribution location.

If you took off either the 1st fuse cover and the second (lower) cover, or just the top cover, make real sure you set both back correctly and securely. If you don't, water can and will get into that box and wreck havoc over time.
