Default My First Post

Just wanted to say what a great forum this is. Since I have been reading it, I've changed my oil with the topsider, changed my cabin filter, velcroved my cup holder and polished my headlight lens. We bought our 2004 with 20,000 miles on it two years ago. I had an extra key made for big bucks and my headlights adjusted for little bucks. Does anyone know of a decent repair shop in the Lynchburg, Roanoke or Charlottesville, VA area?
I have a tech question regarding oil. If the Mobile 1 does not breakdown, why does the manual say to change it once a year? We only drive about 2000 miles a year. I have heard it is because of condensation. I have also heard that condensation burns off once the engine gets hot. I change it once a year and don't have a problem with that. I am just curious.
Keep up the good work!

I would check again on what your reading, because I thought the oil change intervals were at 7,500 miles ? or when your wrench light comes on.

Welcome to the forum. I only drive mine a couple thousand miles a year also. Why take the chance on ruining an engine for less then $100 a year. The used oil sitting in the car all winter is full of contaminates from the running engine all summer.

With those few miles on the car a year... I say once a year is fine. Synthetic oil doesn't break down as fast.

Thanks for the info. Ours is a black 2004 coupe with XFRCUPL on the license plates. Instead of backing the XFR out of the garage to get to a bird house overhead, I took a broom handle and hit the birdhouse. I was thinking I could catch the birdhouse before it hit the XFR. WRONG! Now I have two dints and a few scratches on the hood. Pretty cool maneuver, don't ya think?

You didnt' REALLY do that, did you?

Here is something I DID do: noticed some dings on the door frame, driver side, when the door is open.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM, how the hell did they get there? Then it hit me, I was opening the door, undoing the belt, and letting it fly! I quit that months ago, no dings since. I take the belt off BEFORE I open the door now.
