According to my mapping software, if I leave here on Thursday May 13th at 1:00 P.M. and drive straight through for 37 hours (2455 miles) I will be in Malibu at 2:00 A.M. on Saturday morning. A six hour nap, and I would be ready to go. That of course assumes speed limit. If I bumped it up a bit to say, about 100 mph, I would not have to miss work on Thurday, since I could lounge around to leave at 1:00 A.M. Friday. The CA cruise is over by midnight on Saturday, be home by 1:00 A.M. Monday morning, six hours sleep, and be at work by 8:00 A.M.

It could work!

It would be fun to see the look at my dealership when I show up Monday, May 17th for my next oil change, less than 1 month from the last one....

Now, all I have to do is convince the wife that this is a good idea......

Probably not!

Bummer!

I think you just want to meet Vegas!!! :P :P :P

Having being priviliged enough to have met her, I don't blame you!!! Beware tho... Mr Vegas is 6'3" and about 240 lbs of solid meat.

Oh, did I mention "open" (no permit required) and "concealed" (permit required) carry of handguns is still permitted here in the wild west???

Now if you really want to come out, we all could write letters to your wife. This would be a very good opportunity for you to do some networking out west on behalf of your business. You could even talk shop for five minutes, hand out a few business cards and take it off your taxes next year as a business expense.

Vegas... I don't think Don would mind too much if some "City Slicker" from back east drove all the way out here just to meet you, do you???   :?

 Wow!!! AZ you must need glasses

jsisabella - I definitely think it is do-able (is that a real word?). I'll make plenty of coffee for you to help you keep those peepers open

I think you could take a couple days off work - like AZ said - make it a business trip.

And Don, aka Mr. VegasCrossfire would also love to meet you! He would like to thank you for the assistance in the installation of the iQUE holder! (Oh and then you could see my mats too  )

This trip is going to ROCK!!

Has a dinner spot been discussed/decided yet in Carmel/Monterey?

Could I suggest Tarpy's Roadhouse on hiway 68 in Monterey, great food, easy to find, easy access, very popular

They do feature the "game" of the week, not just the standard steak. For
Monterey, I would rate it in the med-high price range.

Since this will be a Sat night and possibly a large group, we'll need reservations, I can suggest a few other places since I live in the area.

Sounds like you know the Carmel/Monterey area!!! Great!!! Really didn't want the wharf area. Guess what??? You've just been elected by the "Left Coast Hook-Up" committee to be in charge of dinner!!! Wherever you think is best. Let us know and give me an address. I'll post a map in the sign-up thread.

Thanks...

I've lived in the area for a few years...ummm...25

Tarpy's Roadhouse, 2999 Highway 68, Monterey 831-655-2999.

Based on the list so far I would guess we'll have 10-20 if everyone goes to dinner. I like to be prepared, so I just called and made a reservation for 20 at 7PM, once we have a head count I'll change the reservation.

Hey All,

I'm back from a long weekend and I promise to post an itinerary update in the next day or two. A lot has happened since just last Friday...AZ Outlaws (AJ) did a great job of putting some times to each of the checkpoints, sounds like we've got a great place for dinner set up, and we can all welcome CA Archer to the group! This really is gonna be fun!

Now we just gotta convince those east coasters to come on over for a weekend! Wouldn't that be a sight...seeing ALL our Crossfires together!

Hey, another Crossfire in town, great! What color ? Did you buy local? Welcome to the forum family. Hope you can make our trip. My wife and I are intending to meet up with the group in the area of Ventura. Don't think we can get to Santa Monica by 8:00 AM. Anyway, glad you're here!

Join us!

It's easy. First, send a PM to VegasCrossfire with your cell phone, email address and whether you have walkie talkies to bring along so she can email us all back with a private list of phone numbers to coordinate meeting up if needed.

Then, post a reply and let us all know where you prefer to meet up with the group and whether you're going all the way to Monterey with us so we can add you to the drivers lists below.

Our thanks to AZ Outlaws for spending time with MapQuest to create the list below, but please note that times and meeting places are subject to change! If you know the area and think the driving times are off, or if you want to suggest a better meeting place or itinerary, we're happy to make changes!

SATURDAY, MAY 15:

 1. 8:00am Leave Santa Monica meeting place. Meeting place is the parking lot of the Comfort Inn at 2815 Santa Monica Blvd., Santa Monica.
https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...hp?pic_id=1031

 2. 9:15am Arrive and leave Oxnard meeting place. Meeting place is parking lot of Best Western Oxnard Inn, 1156 S Oxnard Boulevard. It's on Highway 1 (Highway 1 is called Oxnard Blvd there) just north of Pt Mugu and Port Hueneme, and just south of the 101 and 34 highways.

 3. 10:05 Leave Santa Barbara meeting place. Meeting place is Doubletree Hotel Parking Lot. To get there, take 101 North to Cabrillo Blvd., left exit off the freeway, left onto Cabrillo Blvd., right into the hotel parking lot. Address 633 E. Cabrillo Blvd. From there we will all drive along the ocean front in Santa Barbara (where on Saturdays there is an art festival). Then, we will make a right onto State Street, (the main street in Santa Barbara where EVERYONE is out shopping on a Saturday morning) and left onto Carillo St. which leads straight back to the 101.

 4. 12:20pm Arrive and leave Pismo Beach meeting place. Meeting place is F. McLintocks Saloon & Dining House, 750 Mattie Road. Take Shell Beach exit off the 101 and go one street inland to Mattie Road. Look for the BIG goldminers statue in the parking lot. From there, we'll drive through downtown San Luis Obispo to stop for some quick munchies (possibly Jamba Juice at 17 Chorro Street) and then it's on to Highway 1 for the most beautiful part of the drive along the ocean.

 5. 5:00pm Arrive and leave the park entrance to go on the 17 Mile Drive. Park entrance is north on Highway 1 through Carmel, past Rio Rd, past Ocean Ave, to the top of the hill. Exit onto Highway 68 towards Pacific Grove, left. After 68 goes over Highway 1, turn left to the Pebble Beach entrance gate. CGates has let us know they charge $8 a car.

 6. 6:50 Arrive in Monterey for 7:00pm dinner reservations. Restaurant is Tarpy's Roadhouse, 2999 Highway 68, Monterey 831-655-2999. Thanks to CGates for making the reservations!

From here, it's easy to cut back to the 101 for a "straight shot" drive (vs winding highway 1) south back to Los Angeles...about 7 hours drive.
