Default car keeps cutting off!!!

i have a '04 crossfire. for the last two weeks it has cut off on me four times. sometimes it starts fine. and then sometimes after being driven and i go to crank it up it acts like it doesn't want to start. it stalled out on me at a red light lastnight. but after 5min. or so if fired back up and ran fine. the other day i went to get a bite to eat and it started fine, but when i got done eating and tried to crank it, i had to turn the ignition twice before it started. i just got a battery last year. i'm thinking it's a sensor or something. has anyone else had this problem?

Defective solder joint on your Relay Control Module. https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-no-start.html

Try to see if you have any Diagnostic Trouble Codes stored. This also sounds like a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor.

Maybe, maybe not.

But could it be the Relay Control module (fuel pump relay)????

I'd get a Crankshaft Position sensor and also take the RCM out and look at it per the 'RCM" thread.

I'm having dejavu here. I thought that a CPS will always throw a code and almost always it is a P0335. Due to the fact that he is saying that it will generally happen at a red light or after he has been driving for a bit, my money is still on the RCM.

That is what I have in my post. Well, now that I edited it anyway. My fingers must not have done what my brain was telling them to do. LOL

Question is does the car CRANK when it is dead?

No Crank - RCM
Crank no Fire - crank position sensor

Mine would start fine when cold, then crank when hot but take a long time to start - the fuel pump was replaced under warranty and I have had no problems starting since.

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet but CHECK YOUR BATTERY! It may either be time for new battery or the connection between the battery cable and the battery terminal could be getting a bad connection. Corrosion on the negative terminals of our batteries is a fairly common problem and corrosion will often times lead to poor connection to the battery.

Definitely worth trying to at least look over the terminals for anything that might be causing a bad connection and if need be cleaning or simply removing and reinstalling the cables to the terminals.

Good luck!

Unhappy Re: car keeps cutting off!!!

Crossfire 2004,wont start usually when hot, replaced the cps, still the same, when monitoring the fuel pressure it dropped from 57psi to 11psi and the engine die of course!;Started again everything fine the residual pressure its holding at 30psi after 2 hours. Which could be the problem the fuel pump, the relay or something else?

Also check the relay with a magnify glass ,all of them shiny like new.

After 3hours the residual pressure dropped to 20psi,turned the key to run position the pump did not kicked in, did this a few times and got the pump to work pressure went to 57psi,fired the engine then the pressure dropped again in a few seconds. Did this a few more times until the engine kept going, turned it off. Tomorrow I'll keep troubleshooting. All advices are welcome.

If you have a soldering iron reheat the three joints on the RCM.

With no check engine lights, it sounds like it is not a bad Camshaft or Crankshaft sensor.Keep looking for the other suggested things to check.
