If it was you, was it easy?
Seems to me it would almost be less hassle, and probably not much more $$ to just repaint these parts every few years if one is that concerned with nicks. Also, how do you wax your paint with the film over it?
The 3m can be waxed over. The paint under it doesn't need wax.
What does wax do for the paint?
It protects it.
What does the 3m do for the paint?
It protects it better.
No more rock chips, surface scratches, pings in my head lamps. If the 3m gets distorted, remove it, and apply a new sheet. Nothing is better than the OEM paint job. Why go through the hassle of having your car repainted in a shop that will only do a half *** job?
I've had 3m on the car since november. I'm glad I got it done.

i did the install personally. i am an installer for stongard, xpel and invinca-shield products. diy is not something i would recommend trying. i have installed over 100 kits and patience's and art is key. i have completed 3 crossfire kits and with all 30+ pieces the install time is about 8 hours.
if you do have a kit installed...take the time to view an installers past work for the true results.
you wax over the 3M protectant/film just as you would wax the car.

i put on my 350z a clear bra by 3m it was the worst thing i ever did it still would get nicks in it and when you wash your car you have to be careful on all the edges or it could start to peel do your self a favor and don't do it! i traded my 350z for a crossfire and i would never go through that crappy clearbra again . good luck to the peole who have did it already

As for nicks, I'd rather the 3m take the damage than my clearcoat / paint.
sounds like you had a poor install...the edges should never lift.
out of all the kits i have installed this has never happened...you are the only person i know that has ever said they would never have a clear 3M bra installed again.
i have many customers who have this product on every car they own and would not be without it.
sorry to hear about your bad experience.

i have removed 5 year old film and the paint is perfect beneath...no discoloration.
the film does tend to slightly yellow on a white colored car in time.

Question,,,I have a white CF,,,thinking about the X-Pel installation,,,when you say it tends to yellow on white after some time,,,how much time? I suppose I'll ask the installer if this happens will it be replaced, what is your take on this? Lemme know, thanks
the 3M film will begin yellowing in around 18-24 months. the film companies will warranty the film for replacement but not the cost of labor to re-install the product.
this only is apparent on white cars...figures...the only color cars i purchase are white.

The website has a list of installers but I'm not sure if anyone had experience (good, bad, indifferent) with any of them.
Live near Princeton so Garfield is a bit further north than I'd like - but the drive would be fun.
