Crossfires on every street corner
Nobody wants to see that, we all hope for the cars success but we also enjoy the exclusivity of the Crossfire. I for one don't like Chryslers new pricing structure on the Crossfire, cheapening it by removing options and selling it like an - ugh - "riceburner". Improve it, market it upscale and keep the production volume low. The Crossfire does have a pedigree, it's not a car for everybody and I hope DC realizes that.
Great cars still look great, even when you see a good number of them. There will never be as many Crossfire's as Honda Civics. So what if every state has a few thousand Crossfire's driving around? Thats still not a large number in comparison. There are plenty of models you see every day, but still drool over each and every one. It's no different here.
From what I've heard they are not raising the amount of them being shipped... they are only lowering the price... if this is true then we can not complain to much because there will only be 21k a year... which yes sounds big... but put that in prospective of the whole nation.. that isnt crap
I HOPE this is true....
I HOPE this is true....
That's because dealers have 10+ in stock and need to get rid of them--who gives a rat's *** about the buyer--they couldl care less about how you or I feel. Supply and demand--that's what America is built on--too many Xfires on the lot...period. When dealers offer $2500 cash back--that's not good. And even worse, a stripped down $29 version (of which no one will know the difference if you have heated seats, etc, vs a stripped down xfire. Live and learn--

Well said Tex.
I've NEVER bought a car thinking I'd make money, and I certainly have never bought a car thinking I wouldn't take a bath over the long haul. They're depreciable items, I know.
That said, the marketing of this car has been a joke from the start. While the Xfire is a great car, and a fun car to drive, with good enough performance for most drivers, let's face it....it's ONLY distinction over the competition is it's style.
It's not class leader in performance, with the exception of a few handling characteristics.
So...put a bunch of relatively stripped down (they still retain the important goodies, like traction control) cars out there well under $30K, which is where they will wind up, and there will be as many out there as Z cars.
Forget limited production...if Chrysler finds it can move numbers of these cars, so equipped, at that price they're ramp up production.
So the main buzz one gets from this car...other people's reactions, will be greatly diluted.
Much as I like the car, I don't love it. I'm seriously thinking of selling (too much of a bath in a trade) NOW before the Crossfire Lights hit the streets, and chalk this one up to experience.

I am sorry, but I don't get your reactions.
What I am hearing is that you would sell this car, because there would be more of them on the street?
Who cares?
I bought mine because I like it. I like how it looks and how it drives. Period. As long as it gives me good service, then I don't give a rat's a** what anyone else thinks.
If you bought it for an investment, then it should be parked in a storage garage for about 20 years, then it will be worth alot. Other than that, cars are a loser. They always were, and always will be.
And why should we be angry with D/C for wanting to make a profit? They do not build cars for fun. If the powers that be think a stripped down version at the $29.9K price point will sell, then that it what they will do. I think they are going in the wrong direction, but I don't own the company. I think they should increase the comfort, wow, and gadget factors and bump the price up a bit. And then get the word out! But like I said, it is not my company.
I did not buy this car to race. And D/C has to figure out what they want this car to be and what target market they want to attract. No single car can be everything to all people. If they try to do that, then they WILL kill this vehicle, because it will appeal to no one.....

Mine's not going anywhere, unless I'm in it!!!
I agree whole heartedly with jsisabella...... I couldn't care less if DC wants to make a watered down version and sell it for a bunch less. I've got mine and I couldn't be happier. So far this car has done everything I've asked of it and it's done them in fine style.
So, in a nutshell.... Mine's a keeper!!!

The thing I like the best about the car right now is the uniqueness of it. I was never a big fan of cars everyone else had like a camaro or mustang, although I do have a Hemi Ram which is everywhere. I get a real kick out of the "what is that" questions, and explaining the lineage of the car. If everyone has one it takes some of that allure away in my opinion. Obviously if they flood the market and devalue the car that would suck, good resale value is always a plus. Even at a cheaper price though, this a niche vehicle and pretty impracticle for most households so I can't see Chrysler selling tens of thousands of these puppys.
