Interesting article. Forgot that the 1000+ Crossfires sold in England would be right hand drive. Wonder if any right hand drive SRT6's were built?

interesting tak on it. I never knew there was such a craze for these things in Europe when they were new. I wonder how all of the owners who paid full MSRP (or more) felt after seeing the Clarkson review? lol

There are right hand drive SRT6's in Europe. Several members of CICCI have them, including SRT6 Roadsters. Lowest production numbers of them all.

I liked the part about "exceeding speeds of 155 mph if not for an electric limiter". Will somebody please figure out how to get rid of that damn thing and do a top speed run?

They already have...it is removed with a tune from Eurocharged or In Motion...

I don't think it has been achieved in real life YET, but the calculated top speed with the current gearing is I believe 181 in a SRT. Though I do believe a couple fo guys have hit documented 170mph...I think.

I find it interesting that several articles, including this one, recommend the automatic over the manual transmission. I think this preference is based on the amount of mileage the test cars have. Since I owned my car since new, I've had a chance to see how things have progressed over time. It's my experience that like all older german products, the crossfire requires some breaking in before you really notice the sweet spot of these cars. For the first 10k-15k miles I've owned the car, every mechanical aspect of the car was very tight and difficult to move. But I've noticed things have loosened up very nicely over the ~15k mile mark. I think the shifter, while still notchy, has a great feel to it and requires far less effort now.

I paid full MSRP and was glad to do it. I truly enjoyed the Clarkson review. The man and his wacky crew of nutters can be very entertaining. When I want a car review I go to one of the serious reviewers. When I want entertainment, Clarkson can be hilarious. Anyone that could think up sending a rocket propelled Mini off a ski ramp is OK in my book.

I don't pay full MSRP on any new car! But I did search for the best deal I could find in 2005 when I bought my car. At the time our cars were still not cheap and they weren't giving them away yet! I paid 25K for a base coupe at the time and don't regret it! I have enjoyed it and still do. Glad to be an original owner and not buy a hand me down for 10K on ebay (not that there is anything wrong with that)!
