Just mindless babble...
Driving to work this morning on the interstate (not in my crossfire). I saw a really nice red Trans am (the newest style before they ended production). He was getting on the car and the V8 sounded great! We were riding next to each other on the interstate. I started thinking about how much I loved that style trans am and sometimes think about buying one. Then we came up on an older black Z28 (a 2000-2002 model year just like the one I owned). I started to think about how I missed my Camaro. Then I really started thinking about how I really want to replace it and buy another one! Checking the lines out.... I loved that model of Camaro. Handled great and felt great driving it. For the past 5 years I have regretted selling that car! For whatever reason, I don't feel the new version can replace the old. I don't get the same excitement from the looks of the new Camaro that I did with the older ones.
Then all of a sudden we came up on a black Base Coupe Crossfire (which is what I have. I gave up the Camaro to buy the crossfire and sometimes wish I kept both cars). Suddenly I didn't miss my Camaro anymore! The thought that popped in my head... "now that is a really nice looking car". Kind of made all those "Bad" decisions to sell my Camaro suddenly feel right again!

When I first bought my crossfire new in 2005 most people didn't know what it was. My neighbor came out and started staring.... saying the words "DAAMMMM". Everywhere I went I had people throwing thumbs up in the air and yelling "nice car". Most people thought I even had a hemi! The car really stood out. Even a worker at a gas station came out and wanted a tour. You should have seen his face when I said they are no longer making them.
Now 5 years later I don't get as much attention because I think more people know what it is. The mechanics at Chrysler still ask me if I have the car. I brought it in to Jiffy Lube once for an inspection and they still ask me if I have the car. It still gets attention but not like it used to.
But my prediction is that 5 years from now you will see even less on the road. And time will prove how "classic" this car really is. 90% of the people still won't know what it is. They will again start to ask and wonder what kind of car it is. Our cars existed for a short period in history but they have their own tale! They came from a time when the auto industry was on fire. They also represent the Mercedes merger and have a very special story behind them. They will become timeless classics!

this morning i was fitting the decals i got from andrew when the gardener who works for the lady across the road came over and said, wow thats in good condition, thanks i said, how old is it he asked, 3 years i said, what the hell is it, its got the looks of a very expensive classic car he said, i thanked him but didnt let him in on the secret what great value for money these cars are and he went back to cutting the grass and me grinning from ear to ear
I was at the ATM machine at my local supermarket and briefly parked on a double yellow line when this guy started shouting at me "You cant park that car there" - "Just using the ATM machine wont be a mo" - I replied. Again the guy shouts "I said you cant park that car there" - "Yeah - sorry mate just a second while I use the ATM - honest" I say - then the guy shouts "Your all the ******* same you Bentley drivers - too much money and no sense!!!!"
I almost wet myself and I am still getting people who point their finger at the spoiler like they cant believe it moves -especially kids - the car is just such an attention seeker.

Actually got pulled over by a cop one day and had it in my bag on the front seat. I forgot to tell the officer it was in there. Ooopps!

I've had my '05 black base model for about a month now. Two weeks ago, I pulled up to my local bank where every knows me. The local cop (who hangs around the bank on Fridays for security reasons) said as I walked in the door, "We see who makes the big money in this town." I said, "What do you mean." He said, "I saw you pull up in that Porsche." I had to take him outside and show him the car after I told him it was a Chrysler product.
I see a bit of the Bentley in our beauties as well. Couldn't resist taking this pic.

Hey blackcrossfire07! I have a 2007 Black Base Crossfire coupe too. What's even stranger is I owned a red 2002 Base Camaro coupe. The 35th anniversary edition. This was the last year of that production. I don't like the new ones as much. They look too angry to me. I just thought it was funny that you and I have the same lineage going....

The new Camaros are nice but just don't do it for me. Something about the older Camaros that made them special. Low and sleak! More futuristic like the Corvette. New Camaros are big and bulky.

I love this feeling aswell. In my area I am lucky if I see another crossfire on the road in a months time. Driving mine everyday and with most of the time spent behind the wheel of course I can begin to forget about the elegant design of the exterior. When another crossfire come across my path I can't help but to think "damn I am actually sitting in one of those beauties"

I feel the same way whenever I see one on the road. I almost forget what they look like when you sit inside too much. Lately I have seen more and more on the road near me. But they are still not common. I can't count how many new Camaro's I have seen. They are on every corner and a dime a dozen! I even saw a police Camaro already!

I saw one of those Bentley's today. I was driving behind one.
A couple years ago I remember seeing a different kind of Bentley with features even more similar to the Crossfire. I remember it even had a pop up spoiler. Not sure of the model. Not very familiar with Bentleys. They don't do it for me like an Aston Martin or a Ferrari.... even a Mazarati.

When I first bought the crossfire in 2005 many people told me it reminded them of a Bentley.
My only "Close encounter of the Bentley kind".
