The two second rule will accomplish that for you - no need to guess what 5 car lengths is.

how did this turn out? I never settle until the car is taken apart to make sure all damage is accounted for...then, we talk money....the initial estimate is usually never correct...they find other things once they tear into it...

Yup. On the average repair, a body shop submits 2 supplements to the original estimate. They could often stand to do more, but most shops are afraid to do more than 2, because then the insurance company will see them as schmoes who can't get it right.

I would think, since pretty much *any* accident results in these cars being totaled, there would be plenty of take off parts available.

I've ordered and received the part as recommended. I didn't figure how much different it actually is on the srt6. From cat/Y-Split back its totally different. Def. not a bolt on. Duh maybe to others. However, the car is going to the exhaust shop today for fitting and will be wrapped up hopefully this week. I have considered putting the 1in-2out flowmaster powder coated black on it with the srt-6 tips on it. One thing nice about Bowling Green Ky, there are so many shops in the area including a powder coating company. Thanks for the help guys.

As I've been traveling I have seen a few srt-6's, anyone in the Turkey Creek/West Knoxville TN area? Yesterday I seen metallic gray like mine with tinted windows looked nice. I'm thinking about getting that done as well while its in the shop. Hummmm... Thanks again.

Everything looks good. There was some miscommunication at some point. One employee thought it was all good except the exhaust. However upon looking at it the front bumper had not been replaced, and the rear... black fascia? right behind the rear bumper had been put back on cracked from the accident. They have been very cooperative with every one of my concerns and have promptly fixed any issues. Great company and I'll keep doing business with them. I have found it is not unlikely to find someone with my attention to detail in doing things right and doing it the first time. Not that on their behalf(the mechanic or whoever is working on it) they ever had bad intentions. BUT......you know.

Mrwhit08, I don't know if you have a graphite or a machine gray, but I did both of mine with 35% on the sides and 15% on the back (for more privacy and to block headlight glare) and they look fantastic. Al also did the same for his black coupe and it's a great look. You can go darker, but I did not want a ticket and wanted to be able to see out at night.

Sweet thank you sir!

Those are about the numbers I have been looking at. I think rear/rear side limit in ky is 18% and front sides is 35% so thatll actually work out good.

I put 35% on both the side and rear-side "opera" window so they matched. 15% on the big rear glass. Works real well when an SUV is right behind you with it's lights on.

BTW I am working in Knoxville/Alcoa right now in retail. I was told that the "Tail of the Dragon" was within 15-20 minutes driving distance from that area actually in Maryville. So as soon as I get my car back if anyone is in the area and would want to make a morning or an evening out of it let me know maybe some of us can get together and drive it. I went 35% all the way around and it looks great. Because the interior is dark, and, looking at the car means you are probably looking through two tinted windows, it looks a lot darker than one might imagine.

The exhaust actually does almost fit right in place. Difference being the non-6 had two separate aditional smaller cats after the o2 sensors. The 6 actually incorporated the amg labeled resonator box right before the muffler. I'm positive it's going to sound better as the 6's exhaust pipes go all the way through the back ending inside the tips. The pipe is def. beefier as well on the 6's exhaust. They'll be firing it up shortly I'll keep you posted on how it sounds.

OK got it all back and all looks well and it actually sounds great. There is a lot more tone to it having the oem srt6 muffler. Cool thing about it is its very modest just driving. It doesn't sound like your getting on it from every light. It does however sound like a sleeper. If only huh? :-) And without getting under the car, it all looks stock. This being the only alternative exhaust I've had on this car, I would defintely recommend this install. After replacing the front bumper I no longer have the front license plate holes either which is a nice touch.

Thank you all for the help and advice.

I will be heading back to Alcoa Friday and Asheville Saturday if anyone wants to try to plan to run the dragon this upcoming week/end PM me. I'm still working in Alcoa/Maryville for the next couple weeks so time isn't an issue. Tis the luxury of hotel life and trying to find things to do in spare time.
