Default 99,134 mile Coupe six speed

Well, I guess I better "s%%t or get off the pot"....

Found a pretty graphite 6 speed coupe two weeks ago. He just took the price down to $8995!

I drove it again tonight. THis has to be the cleanest 100,000 mile car I've ever seen. I am no mechanic, but I can't find anything wrong with it. Not one DROP of oil in the engine compartment - no leaking that I could find from anything!

Only "Weaknesses":

The clutch seems a LITTLE worn, but not at all bad or grabby or anything. The fourway flashers sometimes only flash the left side. Everything else worked (but I forgot to verify the cruise works tonight, tho I THINK I tested it last time I drove it.)

Will that "tighthead1" guy in Arizona approve of this one for pizza?

Gonna try to make up my mind tonight and call him in the morning. DAMN, but Coupes sure have a lot of blind spots! I will also say that I am no longer so sure the 6 speeds are faster than automatics. It seems like the car pulls harder .... yet the delay due to shifting ... hmmmm, might take me some time to 'get it' with the sports-car-like shift in these cars. This aint my Ford Ranger's transmission, that is for sure.

Yea, it IS this pretty:

Oh, two things... don't no one go buying it out from under me! (Of course, if someone DID, I could look at that base Roadster in Florida.... Is the hunt REALLY over?)

Second, IF I buy it (Boilerup is gonna puke ) I've GOT to have a Nav radio like in my roadster... anyone got the original NAV radio for sale?

Hey Mark. I have a nav radio I can sell you, and I am just an hour south of you. Let me know.

Once you set the mirrors correctly much of the blind spots goes away. Set them to where you have to turn your head all the way to the left to see down the side of the car. Do the same on the right. Then leave them the he!! alone till you get used to it. Then you will want to do all your vehicles that way. As for power, I don't think one is faster than the other till you get into the twisties. The Six speed will murder an auto if your utilizing it correctly. Another little trick when your shifting hard is to let the shifter find third. If you push it out of 2nd the shifter will go to center, right below third. That little light on the dashboard should be blinking at all times if your doing things right.

To see what it will really do, from a dead stop, put in the clutch...gas pedal all the way to the floor...(tach will stop & hold at 4200 RPM), drop clutch & keep the gas to the floor during shifts.....

Good Luck....

I have a 6 speed and the autos are faster of the mark and the delay from shifting cannot be made up. To keep the losses to a minimum you have to really slam the gears and clutch and you will still fall behind.
Get the revs just right and the gearbox is OK'ish smooth, get the revs wrong and it isn't too smooth at all, especially going down through the gears. Going up and down through the gears is lots of fun.
Although in town, in stop and go traffic the auto cannot be beat.

The Crossie has a delay valve in the clutch. This suggested manuvoer will not be as quick and snappy as one would think.
The delay valve can be drilled out but only by removing the clutch bell housing.
So "popping" the clutch ain't easy to do on a Crossie.

As to Stick Vrs Auto, Drag racing, Auto wins. Twisties and clutching thru turns like the Dragon, Stick wins

Traffic, If you are lazy and don't miind being bored push and go is fine in an auto

If you just put it in 3rd gear you hardly have to touch your clutch or your brakes. I find it actually easier in the stick NA than Cathy's SRT.

That said, when you really want to blow off an @sshole, the SRT is the ticket.

Quicker shifts and faster acceleration will happen on a stick with a Sprint Booster. Best of the easy mods I think there is on the Crossie.

As to Pizza Guy, 99K on a Crossie isn't exactly a virgin, but hardly could be considered a Hag. Priced under $10K and in decent shape, buy it.

I know a young lady who bought a red coupe around that price and nearly those miles. She grins a much as I do on the way to work for a lot less money. Parked side by side, mine and hers, they both look the same.

You mean on an automatic, right? Sprint booster doesn't do anything for a stick, right?

I would think with all the low mileage Crossfires out there, you'd have little incentive to look at something nearing triple digits.

It's the price: $9000. This has to be done on a budget.

And I DO like the Graphite color.... and WOW if it ain't clean from bumper to bumper.

There is a roadster on Ebay at "Texas Direct" iwth 17,000 miles on it with more dings and chips on it than this car (paid a guy $120 to go look at it tuesday).

But................ the miles bother me. They really do.

I ain't made up my mind yet, don't know WHEN I will.

Mercedes engines can go typically to 300,000 miles with required maintainance done according to owner's manual schedules. Check timing chain for wear, but don't be afraid of a high miileage car that has complete maintainance records. Buy the car!

The red AUTOMATICS always sell for less than the sticks... it's a matter of, "If it's what Pizza wants, it costs more..."

I say go for it if you are happy with how the car looks and can't find anything wrong with it. On the Auto vs Stick debate I see a bunch of people saying the autos are faster but I can't seem to find any auto time to compare to the fastest stick 1/4 miles of 14.7. Are we talking on the street here?

Just thought of something.
If you buy this car you can alway brag about the amount of miles you have on your car!
