Machine Grey Eye Troubles
I regularly ask people looking at my machine grey coupe what color they would call it. About 80% do say it's a grey. The other 20% match up with me and say its some kind of blue. I did have one person say violet.(?) Anyway, at any angle and in any light I see a blue car, not a grey car.

I love that machine green, eh I mean grey.
How about "beautiful"? It's my favorite Crossfire color. It is gray but with lots of blue flake in it. The graphite has a lot of green flake in it and as far as mine is concerned a gray "flake" that drives it.

There were two variations of this color... here is a 2004

Is this the "least blue of the two"??? Seems like some other pics look a lot blue-er to me.

04 ? I thought they were first produced in 06? I don't know what that color is.....the Machine Greys really change radically with the lighting.....maybe that's a Graphite in odd lighting? Maybe it's not an 04?
It's an 04, I ran the VIN. THAT much I DO know!
Yea, it's Graphite Metallic ... come to think of it. I looked it up, that was the color available in 04.
I"ve kept wondering what the differnce was, and now I see it - I don't care that much for the blue-er color that came later. (But it beats that "SSB" stuff!)

Code PDR or 184, Machine Grey Pearl is an interesting formula. It's mostly clear, then a good amount of a course metallic, and the pearl is mostly silver, with a bit of fine violet. It also has a good amount of Oceanic Blue and Brilliant Red tint, along with 2 whites (bright white and frost white).
It's unusual for a silver or gray in that most of them are mostly all metallic (with no clear), and they tend to only have trace amounts of blue, red, yellow, green, whatever in them.

My body man had a real problem matching the paint when replacing my left fender 2 years ago. Even the Depont guy scratched his head, but it worked and I did'nt get any bad feedback @ CAA
Graphite is definitely gray with lighter (maybe silver) and darker (black?) flakes in it. Machine gray is blue with either silver or gray flakes, depending upon the light. It was not available in 2005. Maybe in 2006 but absotively in 2007.
I would definitely say it is blue. A steel Blue. It seems very rare.
I was unaware of it when I was searching for my Crossie. I suspect I would still be looking had I known it existed.
I have found one steel blue, (machine Grey) roadster with a stick shift.
2006 and the going price is $19K used. Had I run into this one before I bought mine, I think I would have jumped on it.
Seats are not Cedar so one of my preferences would have to be sacrificed.
But I would have done it as frankly I find it a rather masculine color and would look really biff with my favorite coral pink shirt.

Franc, you're an odd duck....but you're our odd duck....I did see a Machine Grey Roadster down on the plaza in KCMO a couple of weeks ago.....as it drove past a black SLK320 that was parked....my wife & I both remarked how much better looking the MG XF was.....
