Base Coupe Convertible
After 5 years of ownership and learning as much as I can about our cars I never thought I would be shocked! I saw a black base coupe convertible. There was no silver trim.... just solid black and no fog lamps so I assume it was a base coupe. Are they rare because I have never seen one before? I always thought it was just a rumor but didn't think they actually existed.
Is it a coupe or roadster?
They did make both the coupe and roadster versions. As far as rarity, I'm sure the base coupe and roadster numbers were far less than the limited version. We have a member in Colorado who does have a base roadster (blackberry).

That my car. I didn't realize that it was a rare version, I just thought I was unlucky that it wasn't a limited. I have a base 2005 black roaster with leather seats, not power or heated , no fog lights they are blacked out, and no chrome, all blacked out same color as car.

I also just looked at a Red SE in the past month - which is a base Roadster with red exterior, chrome door handles and chrome side stakes.
Every base and SE I have seen had cloth seats.
Not sure if the base convertible has cloth or leather seats. But the dealerships can easily swap out cloth for leather. Either the previous owner did it or the dealership did it before it was purchased new.
The base convertible I saw was driving on the road. I couldn't see if it was cloth or leather.

The SE's were all Inferno Red. They all had SRT wheels with black painted inserts. Black windshield trim with silver strakes and door handles. But it was a base model in every other way. All the SE's were roadsters too. Truly the odd duck of X-Fires.

It didn't help that, while it WAS a one owner car, it had sat outside in the Georgia sun for much of it's life. Paint was fine, but not great... interior showed UV exposure too.

A leather upgrade is pretty cheap. We would add it to 4 door vehicles that included door panels for about $800. Leather was usually way better quality than factory too.
There was a dealership in Long Island that had about 5 of them back when I was looking to buy my roadster. The thing was, with values as low as they were, even nearly 3 years ago, there wasn't that much difference in price. Maybe $1500 or so and my car has nav besides the other limited upgrades.
