Unhappy Broken Shields - holds the Foglight Inspection covers

YIKES !!!! . . . imagine my surprise when I got under my car to change the oil today !!! I removed the belly pan in order to get to the oil pan, no problem there . . . however, when I was looking "up" at the front of the front wheel wells, I noticed I had cracked and broken black plastic !!! These pieces are the shields that box in the bottom of the front of the wheel well - keeping the crap off the fog lights ! Also, the foglight inspection covers fit on these shields.

I KNOW my car has NEVER been hit in the front. And I have been the only driver . . . so how the heck did these get broken ????? Maybe I am being **** about keeping the car sooo original and like new, but damn I could not believe it !!! Although I do recall, when I took the car on Willow Springs road course, that I did blow off one of the foglight inspection covers. . . . so, maybe it was rocks or something from the track ????

Anyhow, got the shields on order from the dealership - phew, at least can still get them !!! . . . no, I did not take any pics of the broken parts, once I get the new ones, I will show you guys what I mean . . . in the meantime, maybe check your own cars . . . .

Cheers

Mark

Have you run over any freeway 'aligators'??? I would think that you would have to have something hitting them pretty good to break them... mine are fine on both cars with normal driving..

I saw your title in the new posts and the quick scan appeared to say Brooke Shields.
Maybe I am becoming dyslexic in my old age.

Can't recall driving over anything that would have created that much noise ??? But then again, it is plastic - so who knows ??? Maybe it was broken when I got the car from the dealership - however, I have done all my oil changes, so I have only noticed it now ! I only have 12k miles on the car (2004 Limited Coupe) . . .
