I guess tin is lighter than steel!!

HEE HEE I couldn't resist because one guy who owns a Crossfire's wife has a RX-8 and he said the doors on the RX-8 feel cheap and thin. I actually liked the RX-8's appearance before I saw the Crossfire but Euro is cooler than Rice anyday 8)

An auto Crossfire will beat a Auto RX8...
as stated before that the RX8 only out performs the Xfire when it is at the right RPMs...

Story time...

I've raced my friends RX8...
He's not so great with his shifting in the high revs yet... so it was like him SLAMMING the gas... shifting ... but much like an auto... when he redlights it but not enough to keep the RMPs high enough to continue to the next shift.... The xfire destroyed the RX8 from a 0 - 60 ...

now at ??? lets just say a high speed... the RX8 was able to pull away because its ported rotary engine system at high rpms...

Horse power isnt always everything... its about how the car is designed to handle its shifting... the RX8 is an amazing car when used correctly... but I'd put $100 on WMichael stomping a Rx8's booty at a SCCA race... and now with his ECU upgrade even off the line at a traffic light....

The only Mazdas I've seen running autocross so far are Miatas (that do very, very well, I might add) and 2 RX 7 that run okay.

The guys I've talked to that are running Miatas say that it's like driving a Go-Cart. They are really very surprising! I'm glad they're not in my class.

I know a guy that has a RX 8 and I've been trying to get him to autocross it. So far to no avail.... I doubt he's ever had it anywhere close to the rpm that puts the rorary motor in it's power band.

I would love to see a rx7 in an autocrossing competition! ... are you allowed to drift the back end out? or is it straight turning ?

Tell your friend to try it sometime! I know lots of people get scared of red lining their engine that much... but its what those rotary engines are known for! I think if you saw one really use its full potential you'd be surprised... I've seen it first hand and when done correctly it does have amazing power!

The autocross courses are pretty small and there aren't many sweeping corners to get any kind of a real drift going. But if you take a sweeper right, you will drift a little.

I think with RX8 burning too much oil leads to DAMNATION ! Kills their catalytic converters easily.

I drove my wifes Auto 8 yesterday and floored it. Thing has alot of power in it starting at 4,000rpms and remains with power to the beep comes on. The beep is sweet! I got to a 101 in third gear!! Thats crazy! I have to crossfire auto and my wife has the RX8 auto and I would have to say from a stand still it would be very close race. But if it were on the highway it would smoke me! Car handles better than mine too! Hey both cars are sweet to me!
