Wow! I am really sorry to see this! I can only imagine how you feel. I got into a minor fender bender the other day and need a new hood and I felt awful for a couple of days. Sometimes isht just happens though. I'm glad to see that you are ok (at least I think so!). On the positive side, it looks like the car is really quite safe--I can't believe the roof is in such good shape.

I haven't read the whole thread, so I'm not quite sure how you are taking all of this, but to me, there is at least a small amount of solace in how the car went out. I have another car that I absolutely adore and would be pretty sad if it got totalled. However, I also track the car and realize there is a certain danger of driving the car close to, at, or above the limit, even in a controlled environment. To me though, if the car is going to be taken from me in any manner, I would feel better having it go doing something I love and built the car for as opposed to say driving to the store and work and having someone plow into me or have the car randomly set itself on fire. I know it's not much comfort right now, but at least the car went out while you were enjoying it and driving it in a manner like it was intended.

In addition, now's your opportunity to get another crossfire and maybe go in a different direction for the mods just because you can.

well, Johnny, since I got to see before most of the rest, I will just tell you all the new gray one in his garage now, will look even better than the upside down model he onced owned. He literally has it torn down, and painting, waxing, tinting, customizing....and the list goes on...so stay tuned...oh, and I almost forgot, the new "hatch" install in the floor board...wonder what that is for....

I think that hatch looked like it came off of a Russian T-80 that had been surplused Doc.

John:

Roberta & I were so sorry to hear about your mishap, but relieved when we heard that you came out of the incident essentially unscathed. Pictures tell a horrifying story as I fully understand that what occurred happened in "the blink of an eye".

Take care of yourself and good luck with your current XFire adventure.

Later,

The hatch is to access the ejection seat system.

Doesn't a Roadster have a lower center of gravity? I wonder if a Raodster would have flipped?

Yep.. from the looks of it, once he hit the grass, his tires caked up with dirt, rendering the treads useless. Once that happens you're just along for the ride. The off camber grass [+ large rock] is what caused it to flip, if it happened on a level road it may have been a different story.. All I can say is thank god that thing landed the way it did in the spot it did.

Off camber grass?? Perhaps you should re-read his original post. I'll go with Johns version, since he was actually there.

Why can't I be more diplomatic like this? You are both a moderator and a mediator. You didn't have to say a word; brilliant.
