Default Two 10" subwoofers, 2 amps, and 1 box

I scatched my head for a bit trying to figure out how to install my subs into the back of my Xfire without it looking cheap and still be able to get a couple bags of groceries (wife required that) in it and/or a couple backpacks - haven't tested either one yet (my 17 year old son is who actually drives it back and forth to school.) And the attached (hopefully) pics show the finished product that we completed in about a week.

Built the box with the correct cubic feet required for 10" MTX 5500's for a sealed box ( 0.75), barely got it to fit through the opening, and mounted it. Got cardboard and made a top template and a back template that went from one side to the other and conformed to the contoure. Traced the cardboard onto 3/8" plywood, cut them out, sprayed glue and stapled black felt onto plywood. Put in place, screwed the panels in, and re-mounted the amps. Finished product looks just about as good as I was hoping for.

We are powering the stock speakers with the 4 channel 360 watt amp and it does a decent job; the 10's are being powered by the bridged 480 watt amp and it has good base. The weak link is the DVD head unit we choose, it was cheap but does have the option to add a "blind-spot" camera in the future, but the adjustments over sound quality is lacking - that will have to be done more precisely on the amps themselves - but overall, we didn't expect the base to be quite as good as it is, so we are happy; it rattles the hell out of the spoiler to the point that we just put it in the lowered position.

We also have the optioin to add a nice set of speakers to the sides of the MTX's on the deck lid - there is just enough space between where the sub woofer box ends, and the exterior wall of the car that would be perfect to install and fairly easy - if I really wanted to boost the interior sound of the highs and mids.

Wow, better hope my 16 yo dotr doesnt hear your son drives yours cause Id hate to tell her NO WAY! \

Really a great look, and clean. I wish I had the talent to fab up something like that and some of the other set ups Ive seen in our cars. I went with the amp mounted so I could pull the speaker box out (barely ) if need be. Not super but still not to bad.

If youre into speaker covers ebay has them for 12.00 and you can paint them for an extra look. Simple protection for such a small cargo area

Looks good, I had a similar setup in my last crossfire and with the new one, I think I am going to do a flase floor or a custom fiberglass enclosure....
