Default Replacement battery causing car alarm to go off???

Okay so I replaced the battery in my 04' Crossfire with a Mopar battery purchased from the Chryler dealer.... well let me say I attempted to replace it. After attaching the negative terminal the alarm immediately sounded and headlights began flashing. Also, there slight sparking on the post. Everything appears to be off (headlights, cabin lights, radio, ect.). Additionally, the battery had died after about a two week period of being parked in the garage because I don't attempt to drive it on ice. Any ideas on what it could be or what I can do? At this point I can't even get it to the dealer without being towed? I'll warn you though my car knowledge is pretty minimal! Thanks

If you had the car locked and the alarm armed when the original battery died, The car will go into alarm the moment it gets enough voltage from a new battery.
You should be able to silence it with the key fob.

Slight sparking on the post is normal.

ditto, thats why when you jumpstart, they say to hook the dead battery's negative to a solid part of the motor for ground. It'll spark but not near the battery which sometimes gives/puts out gasses that aare flamable. You dont want a spark there

If the lights are drawing power then it will spark. Even if the car was working correctly it would still spark as there are components that draw a small amount of current all the time.
So this as stated above is normal.
