Another Traffic Stop
Eighteen months with the car and I just got pulled over for the 4th time. Not one resulted in a ticket and all were BS (50 in a 45; alleged unsafe lane change although blinker on, no one cut off, and lane integrity maintained; and believe it or not, 68 in a 65 on a sparsely populated expressway). This time the cop also had to make up a reason for pulling me over. He stated I pulled away too quickly on a light going green. No squeeling tires, not wavering in lane, no speeding--he just didn't like the low end torque of the car in first apparently.
I've owned plenty of sports cars, but none has attracted the attention of the men in blue like this one. Second closest was a Metallic Orange CTS with a stick-twice in two years. Never once pulled over in a two year dd Catera. I have also been pulled over in my Tiger for reasons that only really translate into the cop wanted to see the car.
These guys have got to have something better to do, and while I love the Xfire, there's really no reason for this scrutiny. Just venting.

Yep, not fun
I believe it is even worth if you have a Porsche, Ferrari etc....
What color is your car?
Mine is white, maybe makes it more.... I say that and for sure I will get a ticket today ahahah!

It's the opposite here in Boulder; nicer Colorado cars seem to attract less attention from the police than ratty cars or out-of-staters. I think it's a combination of the presence of a lot of nice cars here and the police paying special attention to college students, who tend to not own nice vehicles unless they're Californian.
I haven't been stopped once in my 5 months daily-driving the Crossfire, and I was stopped twice for obvious DUI-hunting ploys ("changing lanes too fast") in the 4Runner in the 5 months prior, which I suspect is because the car looks a lot more like something a college student drives.
Interesting to hear about how the behavior of the police changes depending on area.

I've been seeing one escaping Boulder around 5pm the last week or so on the Diagonal.

I've been driving my SRT-6 in vegas for over 3 years now and not once(knocks on wood) have I been pulled over in it..............and I usually don't drive it too "conservatively" if you catch my drift.

Funny that you bring this up, since I got stopped by a unmarked highway patrol car on I-55 in the dead of night. I passed him doing 7 over. For sure thought I was going to get a ticket (I always do), and then he gave me a warning.
Also, I hope you or anyone else never asks a cop if there's something better they should be doing or tell them they should've pulled over someone else. Not saying you would do that, just saying I hope no one does it. My dad was a Chicago cop and a IL state trooper for close to 30 years. Told me when people used to ask him that, he used to say "I do, I'm just not doing it" and then hand them a ticket.
I have said it a million times... Our cars are cop magnets. I drive 100 plus miles per day in an suv. I drive past radar traps all the time doing 5-10 mph over the limit and nothing. As soon as I go down my block the one time per month I drive my crossfire I get pulled over. Cops go out of their way to come after me. My driving habit is not aggressive in the crossfire either.

You're just special, and the cops in your area want you to know it.
You do realize that some cops will tell their coworkers that whenever they see a (your crossfire description here), pull it over, and watch the kid behind the wheel get all bent out of shape. They will do this on occasion, and they enjoy doing it when there's nothing else going on in a small town area.
You and your car stick out like a sore thumb.
Your reaction to their stopping you is giving them all the entertainment that they need for the night.

There's a lady in a red convertible with a big huge hat I've seen a bunch of times.
A couple of greys in their wide variety of shades, all coupes.
I also head home via Broadway and 93, but I pick up 93 at Baseline, and keep heading South. I avoid 36 at all costs at night. Less traffic and stress taking 93 home. Plus, it's much a much prettier drive.

In six years I've been pulled over twice. Once for 12 over and got the ticket to prove it. Then this fall for 15 over and he let me skate. It might be that I'm older and they tend to give us old geezers a break.
Only pulled over twice in 2 years of driving this DAILY:

Pulled over twice, and 2 tickets to proce it, but I deserved them. 45 in a 30 and 65 in a 40....

Well I have been pulled over 5 times in the past year 4 times with the SRT and once in the minivan.... two tickets in the XF. Both in the same week Jan 1 and Dec 23. 55 in a 40 and on the same street 20 blocks apart 60 in a 40. Been good since.... Or at least no tickets. Was pulled over by a State trooper on a Friday last month in the late afternoon... He said i was going 90 mph. He gave me a written warning. I never was above 85...JMHO

How about this, Blackcrossfire07 has a theory that the Chrysler Crossfire is a cop magnet.
If it was a fact I should get pulled over on my way to or from Alabama this Saturday. After all I should pass a few cops on my 250 mile round trip.
I have 4,000 miles on the Graphite in 6 weeks.
I have 21,000 miles on the Red one in 20 months - been pulled over ONCE for almost 60 in a 45 - no ticket.
I am always over the limit by 5 or 10 and sometimes by 25! I keep thinking that, SOMEDAY I'm gonna get nabbed for being at least 20 over and I KNOW I've got to slow it down, but the 6 speed is just too much fun to wind thru the gears.
I always said I'd drive a stick slower and more conservatively cause I"m bored with the auto - but the fact is, this has not been the case. I'm worse with the 6 speed.
WAY WORSE.
But, I'm somewhat smart about when and where and for how long to speed - you can't just SPEED all of the time.
I expected the Red one to be a cop magnet - turns out, both cars are BABE magnets, but not cop magnets.
