Does anyone know of a bike rack that will fit on an '04 Crossfire? Yes, the Crossfire is my daily driver and I need to figure out a way to transport my bicycle to races this summer. Thanks.

Wasn't it VW that was selling a car a few years back that came with a bike and a roof-top carrier?

I think you may be S.O.L. on a rack for your Crossfire. Maybe you can get one of those bikes that fold and put it in your hatch.

Hi...

Thule is a well know innovative rack provider...

From Thule http://www.thuleracks.com/

"The following are a list of rack options for your,
2004 Chrysler Crossfire

At this time we do not have a multipurpose rack system that we recommend for use. Please look at the other possible solutions for your vehicle listed below. You can also get more info by using our Dealer Locator to find a Thule Dealer in your area that could advise you on other options for your vehicle.

Hitch Mount Option
Does your vehicle have a receiver hitch? Many vehicles come with a hitch installed, or a local store may be able to add a hitch to your vehicle. Our hitch carriers fit 1", 2" and ball mount/draw bar style hitches. Check out this section for different types of hitch bike, ski, snowboard, and luggage carrier options available."

Maybe call 'em and see...

Dave...

i think this bike would fit without folding:

http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/index.asp?id=43644

sorry.

but on a serious note, the big boys like yakima and thule don't make a carrier that fits a crossfire at this time. i'm not sure the roof is big enough to provide stability to bicycles mounted above. it might be hard to have a rack on the rear of the car as well since it might interfere with the spoiler movement. if the crossfire had a hitch receptacle, or can be modified to have one, it might be doable. but then the visibility through the rear window would be further reduced.

Yep - the was the Trek edition Jetta, if I remember right. They sold a *lot* of them, too. I thought tossing in a bike as an incentive on a car was a drop in the bucket, but it worked for 'em. Go figure.

Hi...

The Chrysler site lists a bike accessory for the '04 Crossfire here...
$25...

Not sure if it's a solution...

I have a similar situation - not races but getting to club rides - and have considered taking off both wheels. May be a bit awkward and messy with getting chain grease on the hands. May consider it for tonight's evening ride.

My friend had a TT and his bike fit in back (though we don't have the luxury of rear seats).

I have the same question. I would like to take my mountain bike away with me. Is there any update on this question? Is a roof / boot rack available?

Thanks.

Saldous - Nice sketch!

If I'm not mistaken, there is an available Mopar rack system. I think the plastic strips on the roof rail are removable and reveal an attachment point for the rack to be screwed in. Kind of like the Audi TT. Better call Mopar and make sure.

I found this on the Mopar Web site:

Part Code: 82207941
Bike Frame Adapter, adds horizontal cross bar to fit Spare Tire-Mount Bike Carrier and Hitch-Mount Bike Carrier
Price: $25.

So looks like you buy a normal roof rack and this part to make it fit?

Hard to imagine it's for a Crossfire, since we have neither a Spare Tire or a Hitch. I think the Mopar site if f-ed up.

David - What do you mean?? You don't have a spare tire or a hitch?? Something must be wrong with your Crossfire. You need to take it back to the dealer and tell them that they forgot to add your spare tire and hitch. We certainly have both on our Crossfire !

Oh wait ... I must be thinking of our Tahoe ... sorry.

Ok if there's a bike rack for the Crossfire, how about a rifle rack?

The Bike Frame Adapter is actually an adapter you attach to a woman's bike giving it a horizontal crossbar. I've been looking all over for a bike rack for my Crossfire and everyone tells me the same thing, "Ask your dealer." When I asked my dealer, he said he would look into it, and has for about the past year. If anyone has any luck at all finding a rack, PLEASE let me know.

I just checked the German website and they offer a roof rack system and bike racks as accessories. The order number for the roof rail system is 82208703, the number for the standard bike rack is 82207942 and then there's a rack for front fork mounted bike rack which has two parts and the numbers for that are 82205493 and 82207943. I don't know if that helps you any with a local dealer. Any way here's the link to the website...if you can read German.

Make sure you purchase the yakima foam straps that go inside the window hatch as well.
