Bra for the Crossfire?
Has anyone used that Mopar bra for the crossfire? Is it any good? Protect the paint? Attaches well? Any feedback would be appreciated as I getting ready to take delivery on a 2005 coupe and want to use a bra. Thanks
I'm not a fan of leather bra's. I had one on an old car. Dirt would get trapped behind it and while driving, the wind would shift the bra around. Causing it to scratch the clear coat. Once you took the bra off you would see it.
My suggestion is to see if there is a dealership that provides 3m bra installations. Search around in the other forums about it. If you have questions you can also ask me. I've had it since I've gotten the car and i'm very happy with it. It doesn't show up in pictures, and protects very well.
Congrats on the new purchase.

here is a picture of the 3m clear bra on my car...it is installed on the bumper, hood, fender, headlamps and many other places not seen in the picture. some sites to view product and coverage....xpel.com...stongard.com...invinca-shield.com
I recently took a 750 mile round trip with the Mopar Bra installed. It is vinyl "leather" with a felt type backing. Two pieces, one for the hood and one for the grill area. It fit well enough, was not difficult to install once you got the hang of it, and did not move around at high speeds (also has a small bug deflector on each side). It caught a lot of bugs and a few stones that otherwise would have made it onto the car.
DFWSBR is absolutely right, however, about it collecting sand like particles underneath it. I had read, either on this site or another, a post by a person who said he left his on for a couple of years or so and when he took it off, it looked like someone had used steel wool on the paint because of the grit it collected.
Thus, I put 3 extra coats of wax on the area covered by the bra before I left and when I got to my destination at 350 miles, I removed the bra immediately. There was indeed sand under the top edges by the fenders, but it hadn't harmed anything, including the wax, at that point. I cleaned off the sand-like stuff with a dusting cloth, made sure the underside of the bra was clean and left the bra off until I started home. Same thing as above when I got home. No damage, but there was sand again to clean off. I don't leave it on around town. I also understand that if it gets wet, it needs to be removed at the first opportunity or the paint will become milky, perhaps permanently. Then of course, it needs to be dry at reinstallation.
In any event, as an alternative to the clear 3M bra, I am happy with it because it did keep a lot of bugs and other things off the Crossfire, but on any trip, it's remove and clean at the end of every day without fail.

I've got the MOPAR BRA, used it a couple of times, as already stated you do get some sand on the inside. Also left it on over night once (after it got wet) and got a little fogging of the paint near the headlight. Fortunately, it cleared up. I'd go for the clear plastic. I plan on getting it done soon.
