Default Naming Xeth's Crossfire

Xeth, since you've requested ideas on naming your Crossfire, which I presume means the Personalized Plate, I thought I'd share my experiences with you. But first, in the event you aren't familiar with it, you can see if any name you come up with is available in Arizona on ADOT's website http://www.dot.state.az.us/mvd/Perso...lateSearch.htm .

Presuming that's you sitting in your Crossfire, at a young, energetic and retired 67, I'd guess I'm at least twice your age, but I had a lot of fun naming my SSB and you can too. My 4 children, plus their 3 spouses, are all about your age. I ran a family contest to Name the Crossfire with the prize a Sharper Image Crossfire CD/FM/AM player/radio/alarm clock. The naming was spirited and I had at least a couple of hundred entries from the family via email since they are all over the U.S. If you've got brothers, sisters, cousins, friends, etc. you can do the same thing. I had a couple of avisory selection-narrowing votes, but reserved being the final arbiter of the winner since the name can be quite personal in the final analysis, e.g., see Mouse Legend's thread entitled "Personalized Plates?" where she picked XOTTOX which had a very personal meaning to her.

Since my racing reflexes are behind me, I purchased my Crossfire as a Sport Cruiser, not a Sport Racer; thus, I ended up dismissing any names they picked that indicated I might want to race, but from the cars I owned at your age (Pantera, Corvette), I know how it was and it was fun. My kids have a wacky sense of humor (don't know where it came from  ) and their final vote was for MY WLKR  , which both my wife and I thought was really funny. Then I asked her what her view on that plate would be at the times she was driving the car, particularly since she is younger than I even though we have been married for 30 years. That was the end of that. Besides, neither of us wanted to embarrass the President  (see pic in my album) since he's a tad too young for a walker (yeh, I know you're a liberal).

She's an interior designer and came up with a name we both liked that we thought fit the SSB well --- LQDSLVR which won, much to the chagrin of my children. Since that name was my wife's idea  , the prize was awarded to the originator of MY WLKER to preserve peace in the family.

In any event, here is a selection of the names they picked which didn't revolve around my age (e.g., OLDNBAD): FOOFYTR, SPCESHP, EZDUSIT, NDAWIND, CRSFYRE, X FYRE, FUNLIVZ, FUNKAR, NISRIDE, SWTRYDE, LVNLYFE, FUNFYRE, IAM OO7, RLAXIN, SMUUTHE, MEGAKUL, MYBLING, MYBDSLF, SUGRDDY, LVB4UDI, VROOOM.

It's endless. There are also websites that suggest names. Search Google.

Well, that's a start. Perhaps others will want to give you ideas too.

Hope to see you on the road one of these days, as well as the other AZ Crossfires.

Hey, thanks for the mention in your post. I thought quite a bit about my plate and XOTTOX just jumped out at me. I had lots of friends try and guess what it meant and they sure came up with some doozies! I have not heard in writing from the DMV if it has been approved yet, since I did NOT go to AAA to do it, I did it the new fangled way, online. So if for some reason I cannot have that, I appreciate your families suggestions.

Take care!
