Default 2008 Crossfire Pricing

New on the forum. I located a 2008 Crossfire coupe with 13K miles for just under $19K. Looks clean and it is a one owner. Being sold by a dealer. Sounds like a good deal. I will know more when I inspect it next week and take for test drive.

Anything I need to be aware of during my inspection/test drive? Any kind of check list you folks have put together?

Thanks

Hey Old Salt, Welcome to the forum. I recently traded my 2004 SSB Limited Coupe for a 2008 Oyster Gold Limited Coupe with just under 8,000 miles. The dealers "no haggle price" and no dealer fee was just under $16,000.00. Mine was also a one owner and clean history. If you have any questions send me a PM.

Tim the dealer I am working with said his price is 50.00 under the blue book value for the dealer. I do not know if I can get him down to what you paid. Here is a link to the car let me know what you think.

First, the car is listed as a Silver Sapphire Blue and it is not. When I purchased my 2008 the dealer stated that they scan the local market and the internet for setting their price. When I purchased my first Crossfire I took a list of other Crossfires that were simular in year, price, miles and condition to "seal the deal". Often on the forum I have seen where a member will ask another member to help check out a Crossfire for sale that is in another market. Are you in Kentucky? I would not be afraid to jump on a plane to get the right deal. Just buy a round trip ticket in the event that you choose to walk away.

The color appears to be Machine Grey, not saphire silver blue.

Machine grey is a rare color.

It could be the Graphite silver which is more common.

$18.8 is a bit steep for this car although prices seem stable or rising a bit.

It is most certainly worth that price given age and miles and it's true intrinsic value. But if you are looking for a steal deal $18 K is too much.

Dang - last year about this time I paid $20K for a 2008 with 6500miles - a Silver LTD Roadster. I am not unhappy with the price, with the car, or my decision. I had the FEVER. I was in love with this car long before I bought it (or drove it) . It had been listed at $22K - yeah, I know - the resale place was just waiting for someone like me. That happens.

And when I read about forum members with two (!), I get jealous.

I was very happy with my deal... I picked up four years and lost 60,000 miles.

As of 6/13/2011, clean Black Book on this car is 15200. That is what I would be shooting to pay, but like Franc mentioned, the values are creeping back up. That is the case with pretty much all used cars right now. I don't know that I would pay more than 110% of CBB for ANY car right now ($16720). I think that we are on a bubble & I think we are going to see a down turn in vehicle values within the next 12 months as the used car market gets repopulated. Personally, I love it when people pay a lot for their XF - it drives up the value of my car. Only you can decide how much more you are willing to pay so that you can look AWESOME driving down the road! Oh & you get our cast of characters as a free gift with purchase!!!

I bought an 04 limited SSB last August with 5600 miles on it, 1 owner, garage kept etc for $13,000. It is 4 years older than what you are looking at but with less miles and not sure even with used car prices rising that $18,800 is the sweet spot. However, the color is rare, it has low miles, and appears to be in pretty good shape. It has some wheel rash and the headlights might be a little foggy but other than that, I can't pick up much from the pictures that would lead me to be concerned visually.

Bottom line, if you like the car, "your" price point is what's most important. I too would go equipped with comparative vehicles found on the internet with their pricing so when you go to the dealer you have some leverage to bring it down some.

Just FYI
Bluebook retail is $21,500
NADA trade in is $16,500 and Retail is $19,700
Do your research on comparables and on edmunds TMV and see what you come up with. Seems to me somewhere in the $17,000 plus range might be pretty good from a dealer.
Good luck.

PLEASE don't listen to Kelly Blue Book if you are trying to get a good deal. I've worked in the car business for 10+ years and Kelly is a joke! Your best sources are MMR (Manheim Market Report) & Black Book. I know this because every bank that uses NADA to advance on loans is either out of business due to repo losses or periodically has to stop buying because of the crap storm of losses they are taking at the auction. Only CA even considers Kelly Blue Book a real thing ..... its just a website. All the dealers use Kelly to show how they are giving you a GREAT deal on the car you are buying ..... we all just know how inflated those prices actually are compared to market value.

For example: KBB says that a 2005 Kia Rio Sedan w/ 85k mi & a/c is worth $5885 - would you pay that for that car?!? CBB on the same car is $3600.

Now I know that I look at things a little differently that they average car buyer - over 10,000 car deals will do that to a girl, but I don't like to pay retail for a car. In fact, I REFUSE to pay retail for a car. At the end of the day you need to be happy with what you pay for anything. What is the car worth? What you someone is willing to pay for it ......

Definately not saying to use it....... just providing all sorts of other vantages to look at and consider........ with the best in my opinion being the black book and even better, a comparative look at TMV sources as well as actual prices for vehicle purchases (like those provided here on the forum.

As you note, if I too refuse to pay retail for any vehicle, new or used, and have always done much better on pricing based on my research and knowledge of the vehicle and the current "real" market values. Bottom line is, what is it worth to you and what can / are you willing to pay for it?

Sounds about right actually.

There will always be a "cheaper" one but seldom a "better" one.

I thought so. A while ago there was another thread like this one that kind of made me think we overpaid on it.

Let's see. Buy it now or wait for prices to drop. No brainer. Time waits for no one. Enjoy it now!

With only 12,000 miles ....why do the wheels have rash???? That's not curb rash.....looks like the tires have been changed already????

The lighting is odd.....here's what Machine Grey looks like .....(Fred 07)

Wilma (08)....bought new Jan of 09 (with nav) was $17K......with less than 12,000 on her now I'm taking her in under warranty next week for the valve cover gasket leak......look for the leak.

I just did mine. There are two gaskets on each cover that could leak. So it took me two attempts.

So far so good.
