Default Another one gone

Yet again there is one less crossfire on the road today. Early this morning I hit a culvert while trying to avoid some deer. Just got home from the hospital. Everything considered I'm OK. Cuts and bruises and a hell of a sore back from the car being thrown airborne and landing hard in the ditch. She did a good job of keeping me safe.

Were you the one that hit that deer so hard that it flew up into the power lines?

Thanks for the kind words. Just got back from the yard, here are some pics. And yes that is Rustoleum paint all over the interior. I had just bought a gallon to recoat some old tin. The impact was hard enough it forced open the new paint can and it went all over me. As a matter of fact it has been a pain to get off. I've had to shave my head, soak and scrub, and I still have alot left on me. Bet it could have def been worse.

That is why I never swerve off the road for any animal. If it is between my life and the animal I decide to hit them straight on. Less of a chance of dying by falling into a ditch or hitting another car head on. If you hit the deer your car would still be alive today. And you wouldn't have a bad back with cuts and bruises. Just saying.... But sorry for your loss.

I can just imagine that if the paint had been Red. I'm sure folks would have thought you were bleeding profusely!

A few years ago two of my workmates took on deer in Jeeps. One buck vs. a Cherokee. Another took on a doe with his Liberty. Both cars totalled. The Liberty driver dislocated his shoulder and got into Land Rovers instead.

Fortunately my deer road has a 40 mph speed limit. Plenty of time for Bambi to cross the road and dine on somebody's flowers

Sorry to hear about your injuries. As was stated above, plenty of crossfires that need a good home. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

It can always be worse. Before I saw the pictures I assumed that you put the deer through the wind shield. Seems to be the way most of them go down around here.

Glad you walked out of this. It'll be a good story to tell for years to come. Had to shave your head? Hope you don't mind if a giggle a little about your pain.

Sorry for your loss but glad the Crossfire took care of you. They are safe little cars.

As for hitting a deer or deers head on I think that is insane. We have had several fatalities in our area where the deer has actually come thru the windshield and the inpact has killed the driver. Animals shorter than bumper heigth maybe?
