Why you don’t put AMG on your Crossfire
Wow Steve, you guys have a private lounge! What else are you guys keeping from us, a secrete hand shake lol. From this side it is all fun. The only people I have seen take it serirously are the AMG owners. But please thank the guys in the lounge, next time you are there, for your old spare parts. They work quite nicely.
It sounds like a Euro thing. Even though the SRT shares the bloodline, since it is the kings ******* son( Chrysler not Mb) it can never wear the crown and most definately never ever ever enter the lounge. Thats it in a nutshell and you can't argue with that.
As the popular saying goes "it is what it is" But in this case I guess we are saying ......it is what it ain't. All in fun lol.

Is it an AMG? Yes
From a marketing standpoint it's an SRT6, and it's badges as such, but from a parts/component standpoint it's a AMG. Otherwise Krazy you wouldn't be here.
SRT is a Mopar line. We all know it's not a Mopar. Ask a Mopar purist.

The Street Racing Technology group, went to AMG specifically to produce a high performance Crossfire. The didn't put a Hemi in it, the put an AMG drive train in it...so, if there are people who want to display the fact it has an AMG drive train, there sure isn't a thing wrong with it. The car was built by Karmann, not Chrysler. If someone wants to honor Karmann by displaying that fact, then there isn't a thing wrong with that. If someone wants to honor Rob by displaying Needswings on their car, they sure can do that...I can't wait until the dragon...because my Karmann built, AMG powered, Needswings modified, Street Racing Technology Crossfire will be there looking for butt to kick.....over & out...LOL...
End of discussion !!!
well not likely

bullshit.....gentlemen...if you want to run with the big dogs, you are driving an "upper" class so called sports cars...MB hates the fact their technology is on something that is American...well, it isn't. It's just as German as any MB out there. You all want to say, well it was old out dated engineering...say what you want, but, that is like saying my old '69 Z-28 was outdated engineering...but it still brings a huge price tag, and many are still out there kicking ***. This is about I have something you don't, so don't copy it. Childish bullshit. I never stated it is an AMG car. I wouldn't pay what they would ask for them, when I can have the same drive line a hell of lot cheaper. I don't need some secret chat room for all of them to tell each other how much they paid for their cars. I put up with that **** owning corvettes. It was built by Karmann, not Chrysler, whether you think the technology was outdate or not, it is still kicking even today's sports car butts with it's outdated technology, with little mods. Every part I see under that hood isn't Chrysler. Even Chrysler will tell you it isn't Chrysler. I don't see this as kidding at all, I see it as a slap in the face. Don't ever tell me what I will put on my car, or call me a poser...the only thing you will see is the license plate, but no Crossfire, no Chrysler emblems....but you will see the hint of it's heritage, like it or not....because that is what it is...fact...swallow it MB owners...we have your technology old and outdated as it is...now SRT6 owners, contact me for the new and updated secret chat room...
The SRT-6 shares every single component of the SLK32. The only difference is the body.
Steve tell me this, if someone is admiring my car and says to me "Which company made this car?"
I'd be lying if I said Chrysler wouldn't I? I'd have to tell the truth and say Karman built it with an AMG drive train & Chrysler glued the badges on?
At the end of the day whether its an SRT-6, N/A SLK32 etc etc it doesn't matter there all great cars and aslong as we dont get to serious about our friendly debating its all in good fun!
The only stickers on my car are Eurocharged & NeedsWings and damn proud of them
John.

I agree Doc.... While it may seem like fun, and I do understand that was the intention..... the elitist rhetoric is a bit overboard. You can get an 04 SLK32 for cheaper than you can an SRT. They are out there. While both cars share the exact same drive line and suspension, along with many of the interior parts, the comparatively priced SLK32 will get you access to a private lounge that is just a fancy name for an online forum (yawn), and maybe.... just maybe a feeling of having a bigger pencil in your pants. I do agree that we are one of the best groups on the internet. H3ll, we even welcome people here that don't own a Crossfire, and that go so far as to call us posers. Hows that for some friendly jest?
The absolute best part of all this is....... Park an SRT next to an SLK, and see where all the people flock to!
And, you know I said all this in fun.
For some reason, I have an urge to put a PEACE sticker on my back bumper.

I would leave her home, but she is just too damn ugly to kiss goodbye.
Much ado about nothing.
It cracks me up when old "AMC" guys get upset when they see I've tagged my XF as a "New AMX".
But then I did have 383 emblems on the scoops of my old 69 "Hemi" Super Bee.
Sort of a reverse poseur I guess.

Wow, this thread grew quickly
I recall another thread where Steve challenged any of us to go over to the AMG Private Lounge and register, using our VIN.
Turns out, about three months ago I typed mine in just for *****-n-gigs... and it WORKED!! About a week later after registering, they sent me an AMG Private Lounge window sticker for my car. I've been proudly wearing it ever since. I will shoot a photo of it tomorrow morning, but Nick and Steve have personally seen it and it blew their minds as well. Maybe that's why my N/A feels a bit stouter than normal? Who knows...
I know this for certain: as Bob said, park both at a car show and the reactions will... surprise you.
Nick parked his SLK55 AMG next to my white turtle, and there were four people hovering over my car to his zero. We tried everything, from free slices of pie sitting on his airbox, he tried hitting the unlock button to activate the flashers, and finally I resorted to throwing $5 bills inside his engine bay. But, it was futile because the poky little Crossfire, with its Mercedes-Benz engine proudly displayed, steadily won the hearts of all who walked by.
As the AMG roared past me on the interstate en-route to dinner afterwards, I smiled looking at Nick's car, born the same year as mine, quickly disappearing in the horizon with the 5.4L motor singing at full belt. Mine was singing beautifully too, with a chorus of yesterday's technology that was once lusted over at the Mercedes dealer.
Ashamed of nothing, and proud of everything our little mutts have to offer. That's my Karmercedesler Crossfire.

i am not a big sticker guy or badge guy...
with that being said, the person who had the car before me had ALL kinds of stickers and badges.
i removed the majority of the stickers, but there is one on the side skirt that has "powered by AMG", then a badge on the rear (where the srt6 badge was originally) that has AMG...
this doesn't count right? because it came that way...
