Crossfire vs Mustang GT
Any experience...? Had one today in a 2 lane road...this Tang is tailgating me so I accelerated as much as 120 and left him around 10 cars behind. When I realized I'm way past 120 I slowed down and let the Tang pass. That's when I knew its a GT but if I had continued with my speed maybe the Tang wont be able to catch me. Just don't wanna have a ticket ... too expensive.
Yeah, they're not all that hot. I used to have one. Biggest problem is the loose rear end. Keep in mind that they also only have around 215 bhp, but the 4.6 liter V-8 in them, and the car itself, weighs a lot more.

It's really all up to the driver, but with equal drivers the Crossfire should be able to handle a GT without much trouble ... you all claim the Crossfire can wipe the floor with an RSX Type S, the Type S can beat a Mustang GT by no tiny measure.

Cyril, I own both! My wife's car is a 1994 GT convertible, it came stock with 200 hp. I have added underdrive pulleys, K&N cold air intake, pipes with only 2 catalytic converters (stock has 4), flowmasters and a computer chip. It has 3.55 rear gears. My Crossfire has the upsolute upgrade and K&N filters, 6 speed manual. I can take her off the line and up to about 70 mph (3rd gear for me), after that the V8 really winds up and leaves me behind. We have never raced past about 100 mph. The GT weighs 3,414 lbs, has 275 ft lbs torque in it's stock condition, don't know what it pulls now.
Speaking of the mustang GT... last weekend... one pulled up next to me ... he had his girly friend in the car so he was revving like crazy... I was gonna shut him up... I brake torqued till 2,300 or so RPM... light hit green... I in first gear he stayed with me... while he was switching gears... thanks to the autostick I gained a huge grip... then while i was heading to third he was probably just half way through second... by 4th I started to slow down cuz i was a good 5 cars in front of him... at the next light he did it again... same result... it pissed him off so he turned in the turn lane and drove off the other direction...
I think it was the driver... a mustang GT in theory should have taken the crossfire off the line... that v8 isn't that weak... it is faster 0 - 60 ... I know that the autostick beat this car thats what helped me win... because the driver was not hitting every gear perfectly.

I have owned a Crossfire 2004 and now I own a 2007 Mustang GT and anyone of you Crossfire owners want to race. I know my Mustang will beet you.
Now yes I know the SRT-6 is faster but supercharge the Stang and see who wins.
If any of you have not drove a Mustang GT and say the Crossfire is faster is full of s**t.

The Mustang GT is faster off the line and out accelerates the XF. However if you in front of one on a 2 lane road, he will hang on to your bumper in the twisties up to close to 100 MPH. On straights the Mustang GT will get to the front door of the XF and that's about it. Had it happen to me on different tries. The thing is on the straights you're approaching warp speed 125+ and at that speed it will take a very long time for the Mustang to complete the pass and the XF is still pulling strong. That's why the Mustang driver will back out because he is running out of real estate.

I've had my fair share of vehicles including a Mustang GT and 2005 G35 Coupe (traded for the SRT6).
If you're ever up here in NH, come to the track, I'll take your stang on! We're talking stock car against stock car. Put a supercharger on a stang, I'm sure you'll gain some serious HP, but that's not what we're talking here.

In a straight line I know full well that a 2007 Mustang GT will kick my butt, whether I'm in the Crossfire or PT Turbo. On a road course though, I'd be happy to show my tail lights to you. The Crossfire does not a rear suspension straight off an ox cart (thank you, Jeremy Clarkson!).

the new mustang gts will kill a crossfire limited off the line and stay in front, but if you start the race rolling at around 60, a regular crossfire will give it a run. you have to consider, the new gts, as bulky as they may seem, do not weigh much more than the crossfire (about 3,500 lbs) and they have a 300 hp engine.

before the crossfire i test drove not 1 but 3 automatic 2004 mustang GT's... i kept test driving another because i expected much more power... all of them were extremely slow... so i hoped in this hot little crossfire thing and never looked back.
aside from the lack of power in the mustang, it looks like ****... and they are everywhere and they are dirt cheap... so even if your mustang beats my crossfire... my loosing car is still going to be hotter than you ford POS.
Overall for the 2004 GT / 2004 crossfire:
interior = **** / classy, but plastic
exterior = **** / exotic
acceleration = non existent
overall coolness = i can't drive 1/2 mile without seeing one//direct quote from my friend "I feel like a rockstar when we get in your car".
