A/C smell
Hey guys!
I just recently realized there's a smell coming out of the A/C. Might be the air filter? Where do I get the parts and is it hard to replace the filter? I see on a diagram the filter should be on the passenger side, is that correct?
While I'm at it, do I have to change any other filters (fuel, etc)? The car has 51,000 miles on it, bought 3 months ago and have no idea when these things were cleaned or replaced the last time!
Thanks y'all!

YES, I just got my XF about a month ago, and I am LOVING it!! One of the first things I did was to change out the A/C cabin filter. It was a VERY easy job; search for cabin filter; lots of instructions and help through this forum. I posted pics when I did mine. It was easy because I followed the pics someone else posted on here as well.
Good luck, even though you won’t need it.

You can spray some ac system treatment in the ac vents and also on the cabin air filter...They offer different brands...It neutralizes foul odors from the smell of mildew, mold and algae.

It's not a nice smell. What else can I try?

Don't turn off the fans, just push the AC button. This will allow warmer air to enter and dry to ducts before you get out. Another thing you can do is push the circulation button before you get out so the fans continue running for an additional 30 minutes. I know it stinks, but it really is a good problem to have considering how hot it's been this summer.

There have been times I turned the car off and wanted to sit inside for a few minutes before getting out. The recirc button comes in real handy!
My A/C always turns off with the car. If I want to have the "REST" run, like Thirteendog is suggesting (also what I've read from many other members), I just push the "REST"/Recirculate button after the car is off. Changing the fan speed **** or pressing the A/C button, unless I have the key still in and turned one click, does nothing.
But most of what you said is correct. Just that A/C part I don't understand, unless your car is different from mine somehow.

the world may never know
PS. someone check out to see if you have to have your AC on when you shut the car off for the rest feature to work? I've got it on my MB, but i've also got a different AC system than I had in my Crossfires.

I'm just trying to clarify something. Who knows, maybe yours is different from other XFs.
I've just never had to hit the A/C button to turn the REST on and I've never see anyone say that you had to hit it before you turned the REST on.
By the way, letting air (without the a/c) run for a little bit before you shut the system off (whether that be by turning off the compressor before you get to your destination or by switching the REST on) does help get rid of the smell, just in case anyone doubted it. Not saying anyone did. Got rid of the smell in my system.
