Default DESPERATE for a key - can anyone help? Car is stranded

Based in the UK and France my Crossfire Coupe has been stuck since 20 April (14 weeks so far!) - I lost the key/keyfob.

I called a Chrysler dealer who informed me that a replacement key and keyfob is produced from the VIN number, would take about 2 weeks and costs £195 (about €230, or $310) For reference, the part number, at least in the UK dealer system is K05099684AA

After more calls than I can remember, escalating to Chrysler Customer Services with a case number, and bringing to the attention of a Director, I still have no key, no fob, no delivery date and no estimated resolution....and just one returned call. Ridiculous, and the dealer isn't treated any better.

All the details are at Index of /, a blog site I made to publicise this unacceptable situation.

If you tweet, then try @crossfirekey

Does anyone have any ideas? The dealer was told there were no key blanks. Chrysler UK told ME that they had the blanks and fobs, but dont have the machinery to code the key for the Crossfire!

I spoke to a supplier of keys who is mentioned in the forum (based in the USA) - they reckon keys and fob were available on their 2 week delivery service but they will not send them outside of the US. They said the factory will not allow them to do so.Which factory can they mean?

Anyone? Anything? The car has been immobilised for 14 weeks and I am getting nowhere.

Would really appreciate some help and support to the site and tweet - I hope it will help apply some pressure to Chrysler

If for whatever reason they cannot ship to the UK I'd be happy to receive the package here in the US and then deliver it for you to your UK address. Send me a PM and I can provide you with my shipping info just to help you out.

Also I have shipped many things to my clients in the UK before as I am a Former Powerseller on eBay and Top Rated Seller so I have a lot of experience shipping international orders.

Also, side note: I'm SO sorry to hear what you're going through.. this is just terrible!! I hope you get it all figured out.

Who knew ordering a replacement FOB would be SO difficult.

Have you tried these people ?
They're based in the US, but may or may not ship to the UK/France.
When buying a new key, they all require a copy of your title (logbook in the UK), and VIN number.

I know they are very expensive but I would also order a second key ASAP so you don't have this experience again. They came with two keys.

In the US the keys seem to come out of Fort Worth, Texas. At least that's where they come from when ordering from the dealer.

I agree with "Magredvet", I got mine from https://www.remotesandkeys.com/Produ...ductCode=3191A

I think they are located in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. ???

From memory, it took about 10 days and cost about $135.00 I think, but just inserted it in the car and worked first time. Need to send them Photocopy of "Title Deed" with Vin Number before they will process. Look on their Web Site for information. Sorry for your problems.

Thanks TERRYR for the input - but it was that exact company I spoke to who said they would not send the key outside the US. and were not allowed to by Chrysler°

I found them because of this forum and checked their site to confirm they ship internationally...but when it came to the key they said they would not do so. You can imagine my frustration. Their price was cheaper than I have already paid and I was happy to pay whatever fedex/ups would charg to courier it to me.

My Crossfire was originally imported to the UK by an American airman posted to a base here and is actually a US market model (not sure what the minor differences are) so I am SURE they could sort me the key from the VIN number - they just wont do it! I can prove I am the cars owner but I dont have it registered ti a US address obviously and I dont expect they would send to a US based forum member as I guess that is open to abuse also......

I am so mad about this, outraged at Chrysler UKs inability to sort it and I am getting nowhere.

Anyone know someone at remotesandkeys who might be persuaded to help? I really thought the solution was in my grasp.

After ANOTHER fax to Chrysler UK today I actually got a brief call back - only to say there was no update on the situation!!! Totally ridiculous

.

I would be SO happy if this gave me a solution. I've had stuff shipped from the US on many occassions without problem - the issue from their point of view is my foreign registration document and address obviously dont tie up with any US adrress to send it to.

I feel sure that reaching the right person and having and them having a dose of common sense would help me to end this nightmare.

Anyone know anyone in keys and remotes that reads this forum? The more detailed history is on my website crossfire-key.com which I just started t try and embarrass Chrysler UK into finding a solution.

These were the folks who said they wouldnt send to me. When I found the site I really thought I was saved and they seem to have had good feedback from people on the forum here. I was really crushed when they said they wouldnt send to me, even though their website says they will!

An additional difficulty is that the V5 logbook is locked inside the car as thats a legal requirement when it is in France (its stuck about 70 miles from Bordeaux) Obviously i proved my ownershipsufficiently in any case in order to place the order for the key with the Chrysler dealer in the UK on the 20 April

i agree. Lesson learned. I bought it with one key and meant to get another.......of course when I paid and was told it would be 2 weeks I didn't think that was too bad - just about the right level of embarrassment and inconvenience as payment for being stupid enough to lose them.......

little did I know 14 weeks later it would still be unmoved and with the grass growing through it

thanks for that insight. I am going to get back on Chrysler UKs case tomorrow - how come they couldnt get one from that factory in Fort Worth? Must all be the same company surely

A multi-billion dollarglobal corporation that seems incapable of doing anything to sort this, - its 3 WEEKS since it got a special case number at Chrysler UK's (lack of) Customer service department and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has happened.....making it 14 weeks in total

i an barely believe it is happening
