Breaking in the engine
All, I'm after some advice. I pick my X-Fire up on the 19th and wondered the beast way to break in the engine. Should I stick below xxxx revs for xxx miles etc.. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
There are a million different ways people say to break in a motor.
I just drove mine for the first 500 moderately. I didn't launch the car hard, I didn't brake hard, etc. I just got used to driving it and let the items like (brake pads, clutch, transmission, motor) all break in properly.
After that I drove it like I stole it... well kinda
I'm still making the payments

Check out the posts on page 2 of the "3500 mile performance increase" post below for varying breakin opinions. I believe the manual mentions a 1000 mile breakin period for engine, brakes, etc. Excessive I believe, but I would assign more credibility to the DC engineers that actually designed the various components of the Crossfire than a neighbor - or a technician with 40 hours of training. When you get your car, read the manual and make up your own mind.
Edit add - As for me, I used DFWSBR's procedure outlined above
