Re: Motor mount help!
I have never done mine, but I would think if you start lifting the engine with a jack you will be able to tell pretty quickly by looking at them if one is broken.... your description sounds like one is...
I think the transmission it mounted on the back of the engine and will torque/twist with the engine on acceleration.....

Re: Motor mount help!
To check your mount pop the hood put the car in gear and foot on brake slowly give it some gas. The motor should just barely rise on the left side. If it raises a couple of inches and drops when you let off the gas your driver side mount is broke. For awhile I thought my tranny mount was broke because when I went over a hhard bump I would get a nasty thunk right in the center console. It turned out to be a blown rear shock. There is a TSB about the shocks going bad. Replaced rear shocks and problem solved.

Re: Motor mount help!
Use an engine hoist. That's the only safe way to lift this motor up and jacking it up puts the pan in danger of cracking. If you absolutly need to jack it up, cut a 2x12 to size and spread the load of the engine over the whole board but remeber, as you lift it up, more and more pressure will be moved to the back of the pan so only lift it up a little. You don't need to get it up very far and if you can get under it while lifting the engine, you'll be able to see in there. It may be that dampener and not the mount that is bad.
